Intrapersonal communication is essentially attempting to comprehend your own self better. When faced with problems or challenges, if you have a positive outlook. That is about figuring yourself out. We strive hard to find out what others are thinking, by their gestures, tones, body language to use it for our best interests. Doing that same thing with your own self is intrapersonal communication.
Journaling, writing in a calendar, as well as talking positively to yourself up to make a move is actually intrapersonal communication. Taking photos of every special moment of ourselves and then looking back on them years later or posting selfies to Instagram and noticing how you have changed over the years or perhaps, remembering how you felt when you shot the photos. Interpersonal skills are the life skills we use every day to communicate and interact with other people, both independently and in groups.
Companies often seek to hire staff with 'strong social abilities ' - they need those who will work well in a team and be able to communicate efficiently with customers, coworkers and clients. Unlike specialized and practical social skills, interpersonal skills are used daily and in every area of our lives.
Interpersonal skills can be developed through taking time to listen attentively to what others are saying through their verbal and non-verbal communication. Choose words wisely when speaking to others. Learn to seek responses to ensure your message has been comprehended. Being cheerful and positive throughout the communicating process. Interpersonal interaction is a result of “verbal and non-verbal communication, expressed emotions and attitudes, and behavior between or among persons” (Kirst-Ashman, 2007, p. 67).
This is also the type of communication that I prefer to engage in. According to the works, INTRAPERSONAL COMMUNICATIONAND IMAGINED INTERACTIONS, “Intrapersonal communication occurs inside each communicator (Stacks & Sellers, 1989). It takes different forms such as self-talk, inner speech, imagined interaction, day dreaming, listening, and emotional awareness. Intrapersonal communication is considered as the foundation for all communication and a key source for understanding ourselves and our environment (Barker & Edwards, 1980)” (Honeycutt, Mapp, Nasser, and Banner 323). To me intrapersonal communication is very important. I often times find myself walking around not only thinking to myself but I even occasionally talk out loud to myself. In order to make a decision on just about anything I must talk to myself. I noticed that it is a lot easier to talk to myself than to talk to another person. One reason being, no one will judge you if they don’t know what you are you thinking about or saying. Talking with yourself only allows yourself to judge you. In every society nonverbal communication is one of the most powerful tools that a person can use to interpret the message that is being delivered. Even though verbal communication is fairly straightforward, nonverbal communication allows others to sense the true emotions of the person that is expressing them. For example even though a person may say that they are not irritated, their usage of voice may display otherwise. Nonverbal communication not only reveals hidden messages, but it also complements, substitutes, and exaggerates verbal communication.
There are all different types of communication that people will use through out their life. The most important type of communication is interpersonal communication. Interpersonal communication differs from other forms of communication in that there are few participants involved, the participants are in close proximity to each other, there are many sensory channels used, and feedback is immediate. Interpersonal communication is the information received from listening to what someone else is saying. Interpersonal communication always uses intonation, diction and enunciation to give meaning to information. Intonation, diction and enunciation sometimes give more meaning to what is being said than the actual words themselves. In the following paragraphs, I will explain to the reader the importance of interpersonal communication in business.

Interpersonal communication is one of the significant skills while communicating with other individuals. It normally covers an extensive area and includes both verbal and non-verbal communication. Body language and facial expression may affect the accurateness of the message transmission directly. Interpersonal relationships is an area of my life that I would like to improve upon. My personality tends to be shy, and extroverted with lower than average social skills. Which is a combination that makes it a little bit difficult to make the interpersonal relationships that I need as an extrovert. The combination of being shy and having unsatisfactory social skills sends the message that I do not want to interact with others when that’s not the message I am trying to send.
