In basketball, creating your own platform is like being the playmaker of the team and making things happen. Another career field that requires leadership attributes is being a participant in the military or an army general. You have to prove your leadership features on a daily basis. It just goes to say that in basketball being considered a leader or captain is an awesome feeling. Army generals have a little bit more pressure in their guts because they have substantiate the most compelling forms of leadership skills, including fairness, motivational abilities, and the capacity to make quick, often difficult decisions that affect the lower ranks. People who have high levels of emotional intelligence recognize and can put up with the emotional wrecks of themselves and others. Emotional intelligence (EI) plays an important role in every worker in organization or corporation, especially someone with the authority or power inside the organization. A leader has to become a source of inspiration and catalyst for the employee to improve their working condition. One true leader has the ability to read what people want even though it never being told (Meghan, 2014). This will allow the employee to build a good connection and relationship between the leaders, thus improve how the organization being conducted. Some people may denied that emotional intelligence did affect ones’ performance, but big corporation such as Google and Microsoft have implemented emotional intelligence in their working condition as a way to improve the organization performance. Chadha (2013) emphasize that there are 4 key element in emotional intelligence; self-awareness, self-management, social-awareness and relationship management. Within these four elements, one element that truly related between a leader and employee is relationship management.

Emotions are frequent companions in our lives. They come and go, and constantly change like the weather. They generate powerful chemicals that create positive and negative feelings, which have a powerful effect on leadership. Some emotions can either facilitate leadership, while others can detract from successful leadership. This course, Emotionally Intelligent Leadership, has truly opened my eyes to the affects that emotions have on being an effective leader. Peter Salovey and John Mayer defined emotional intelligence as “the ability to monitor one’s own and other’s feelings and emotions to use the information to guide one’s thinking and actions” (p. 5). This definition in itself states that emotions, whether it be ones own emotions or those of others, is the underlying factor that directs the actions of a leader. Therefore, throughout the progression (advancement) of this course, I have learned the importance of the development of emotional intelligence for being an effective leader, and because of this I plan on developing the capacities that contribute to being an emotionally intelligent leader for my own success, now and in the future.

There are two types of players in the game. There are the kids who play basketball because they are athletic, and all they are seeking to gain is the recognition and awards. They want to be known. Those players are self-centered, they do not play for the team, and generally don’t play because they love the game. These are the types of players who don’t usually go on to play at the next level. On the other hand, there are the players that absolutely dedicate their life to the game of basketball just because they love the game. That is what coaches are looking for in a player, and that is the kind of player I am striving to be.

Basketball has given people with disabilities the hope of a normal life. It has given them the ability to engage in such a physical activity that would let them compete against people just like themselves. In contribution to the integration of college sports and the formation of the NWBA, basketball has acted as an outlet for those troubled children who grew up living a hard life. As you can see, throughout history, basketball has made a huge impact on our society today and it has helped many people grow into someone they never thought they could be.
Becoming knowledgeable about the game will require one to study many films on basketball, watch games constantly, read books that have to do with the game and also one's position. Watching film on basketball includes having tapes from previous games and understanding what one could have done better. Sports can help many at- risk youths. In order to participate in sports you need to be committed and willing to work hard. You also have to learn to respect others and accept that winning isn’t the only measure of success. Losing can build character as well. When youth participate in a sports they enjoy, they are less likely to engage in behaviors that are harmful or dangerous to themselves and others. It is for these reasons schools should strive to maintain athletic programs for their students.
In conclusion, it can be stated that basketball is a sport that has a positive influence on individuals from a tender age right through their adulthood. The sport has improved the overall behavior and performance of young adults, teaches them teamwork and persistence. Basketball also brings unity in communities and races alike, and has a constructive influence on the economy as a whole.

At some point students has had trouble either at home or at school and need to release stress or tension. Some of these times the teens choose to do activities that are wrong. Youth want to feel comfort and accepted, therefore they sometimes will do events that are not well for their body just to fit in with a group. There is evidence that proves sports can reduce the likeliness of teens committing crimes, or getting into trouble. Tees look at the negative substances such as drugs, alcohol, or tobacco, and think that they can do whatever they want. Many teens look at these activities and think they are “exciting” or “cool” and want to try them, but if they are busy with sports they most likely will not be as easily influenced. Participation in sports helps keep teens out of trouble by taking up their free time which could be used for mischief, gives them an opportunity to meet new friends for positive role models, provides teens an outlet to develop a higher self-esteem, and also enables student to set goals for on and off the field.
