How Do the Big-Five Factors of Personality Affect an Individual’s Health? When one is proceeding through the journey of life and crossing the bridge of development, it is often noted that personality has a major influence on personal health. Sometimes, while searching for the perfect spouse or ideal home, one might get wrapped up in the adventure that life throws at them, and they do not realize the extent to which their personality, throughout their everyday lives, affects their health. This, therefore, creates an ideal space for scientists and psychologists across the world to study the impact of the various factors of personality on health. These people are the ones who are more apt to consult their doctors if they experience any medical difficulties, and they typically have a higher overall sense of wellbeing. Because of this, they have more consistency in their everyday lives, have less issues in their personal relationships, perform more successfully at work, and are open to new possibilities. For a parent who exhibits openness as one of their characteristics, they are more patient and understanding in regards to their children. They are less likely to react harshly to difficult situations, which helps both the parent and the child. Not only does this benefit their home lives, but it also provides a basis for their children to grow and develop into mature adults. Once they venture off into the real world where they must learn to respect others’ opinions, they will be able to successfully handle constructive criticism from teachers in school and will be able to hold more intellectual conversations with their peers. This will set a foundation for the whole family to develop and experience new things
