Sport psychology is the study of the psychological aspects of sport; they are not limited to just sports and can include any type of physical activity or exercise. Sport psychologists assist athletes or performers with their performance and life endeavors. They examine the way athletes use visualization techniques to improve performance, manage performance anxiety, and how athletes cooperate to work more effectively together as a team. Opportunities with a bachelor degree work in rewarding careers that challenge them to use their general training in psychology as well as any specialized knowledge in sports. Camp counselors are recreational workers who “lead and instruct” children and adolescents in outdoor activities such as swimming and boating, horseback riding, camping, hiking, sports, music, drama, art, and computers. Recreational workers may also assume more of a therapeutic role in residential camps where they provide assistance in skill building to individuals lacking daily living skills, social skills, and problem solving skills. Fitness workers coach groups or individuals in sporting or exercise activities with the goal f developing skills or promoting physical fitness and healthy living. Careers in sport psychology are generally more flexible than for other psychology careers. They have three primary roles: practice, research, and teaching. Sports psychology is a highly specialized field.

Experimental psychologist study topics, including learning, sensation, perception, human performance, motivation, memory, language, thinking, and communication. Some study animals to apply what we learn to humans, or simply because animal behavior is interesting. Cognitive psychology study how people take in, manipulate, store, and retrieve information, as well as how they make decisions and solve problems. They work to understand the nature of human thought. They construct research to extend our knowledge about the mind and construct theories that explain why our minds work the way they do. Quantitative psychology specialize in quantifying human behavior. Quantitative psychologists are specialists in designing, conducting, and interpreting experiments to measure human attributes and psychological data. Some study psychometrics, which is the science of measuring human behavior, abilities, and potential in the intellectual, emotional, and social realms of functioning. Opportunities with a bachelor’s degree include Insurance Underwriter, Computer programmer, Computer Support Specialist, and Budget Analyst.
