The dream of almost every high school student is to go attend college. The students assume that it will be a fun time with many exciting events and experiences. These ignorant youths fail to understand the cost of this enjoyment. That when scrolling through tuition cost they fail to see what else they must pay for. Future students are required to pay for the enjoyment of waking up hours earlier to be able to get to class or pay for some other means to arrive to class on top of tuition. Some reasons that parking should be free is the cost of parking can stack with other costs, it’s not the student’s responsibility to sustain a parking lot, and parking is not available to everyone. Therefore, parking should be included in the tuition that is …show more content…
With the oscillating price of gas, why add the burden of paying for parking too. When a person pays for something they assume that it will improve their life, but that is not true in the case of college parking. When paying for parking, it becomes a race against time to be the first one at the parking deck. How is that improving life? Every person who drives a car to college has no choose but to park in the parking deck, since it’s the closest and safest place to hold a car. Though having parking included in the tuition will not help with finding a parking spot it will instead ease the need for paying more for a service that cannot accommodate everyone at the moment. Also critics might say that colleges are trying to prove alternatives to parking like online classes and carpooling / biking. In an article written by Inside Higher ED some colleges are using Zip Car short-term rentals, which is car sharing. These solutions can be inconvenient to anyone who needs to drive long distance or on the highway. People who need a car are required to use it to drive to college since not everyone lives near college or can have the convenience of sharing cars or riding bikes. If parking is required to be paid, there should be a purpose for paying it. Since students are the costumers and college is the service. Therefore parking should be free for students and faculty until there is a large reason to pay for it.
Conclusively, parking should be free. For reasons being that the cost of living is high, the cost of college is high, and that it does not improve life. If colleges feel that they cannot afford to provide free parking then they should look into their financing to see were all the money that they gain go to. Parking is a necessity not a right, so why are we paying for something that we
I think High schools with a 3.0 GPA should earn free college tuition at state run colleges because the student education rates would probably rise leading to less people who have no jobs and jobs available could be more often obtainable. A problem could be the amount of jobs available to the people who got their education because more job spaces would be taken quicker leading to a need of more jobs which could result in some of the students who got their education not having a job because they are all taken. In this case, the homeless rates could possibly rise with no one able to receive a job around. As well as the people who are already homeless, such as high school dropouts, people who can not afford a house, in spite of all of the reasons, the
According to Trade Schools, Colleges and Universities “Many of America's top-performing high school students never apply to the most challenging colleges and universities even though they have the ability to succeed at them. They often come from minority and low-income households and end up pursuing more affordable, less-selective schools instead.” College can be a burden to many students in a variety of different ways, but the most common reason is due to funds. Making college free for students will help this problem by increasing jobs in the work industry that require degrees, they should be affordable to all people at all cost, as well as the funds should be completely cut off because it would increase jobs and help America's economy grow.
As people attend college, fees build up and students loan money and possibly be in debt. Not only that, some may say college isn’t worth it, but it is. Getting a degree pays off at the end, going towards your career path, making twice as much as you would work at a regular job. Students who have received a degree are slowly declining. To make adjustments, college should be free for everyone.
College is one of the most fundamental institutions in our modern world. It is a place where most of our future politicians, doctors, scientists, and leaders are made. Though, it seems that the price tag that comes with a college education is something that is too hefty for some students. Countless debates go on about whether the price of college should be abolished or whether the cost still is on the students to pay for.
Should community college tuition be free? Walter G. Bumphus, the President/CEO, American Association of Community Colleges, believes so. According to him, “The Obama administration's proposed America's College Promise plan stands to increase access to these educational opportunities and is a crucial investment not only in the future of these students, but in the country's future… America's College Promise proposal for “free” community college is not a handout. Rather, it is an investment in education and would have substantial economic and social benefits.” Bumphus states the cost for investing in this proposal would be less than 10 percent of the Department of Education annual budget, and “less than 3 percent of all annual federal expenditures”.
Students have every right to be angry about the state of college tuition. In the past 20 years, "tuition increased twice as fast as the overall cost of livin...
As high school students begin to look into getting a higher education, certain factors determine what college they may look into: locations, academic profile, graduation rate, school size, and, to some the most important, the cost of the university. The cost of a university can play one of the biggest deciding factors in furthering one’s education. Many students do not have hundreds of thousands of dollars for college. There are many poor people in this world who want to attend college and earn a degree to support themselves and their family and be able to live a more comfortable life. Everyone should have the opportunity to go to college. Every year, college prices are increasing, causing it to be less affordable. This will discourage people
Thousands of dollars for college tuition; thousands of dollars for textbooks and materials, the cost just keeps building up! Students going through high school right now do not have the experience of having to actually pay for school. Often enough, colleges and universities require students to pay hefty prices to attend their schools and leads the hole in our pockets to become deeper and deeper. To change this problem, public colleges and universities should not require tuitions and school materials to be fiscal problems for students. With this, students would not worry about not going to college just because they could not afford it.
Several students are disheartened when it comes to college due to increasing prices of tuition yearly. Most will agree that we need a further cultivated society, but to accomplish this, we must take in consideration lowering the expenses of college tuition. It is recognized that decreasing college tuition does have various drawbacks. For example, it may cut into funds for items such as classroom equipment, essentials, staff pay, administration, and dormitories (Goodman). Nevertheless, lowering college tuition will encourage more students to attend college, relieve students of the stressful burdens of loans, while also creating a better educated society, which will be beneficial to everyone in the long run.
Transportation and travel: If you commute, figure in car insurance, gas and parking fees. Some colleges offer free parking, while others may charge up to $100 for a permit.
With the rapid growth of college tuition, it has become an important issue in higher education. College Tuition is simply defined as the charge or fee for instruction, at a private school or a college or a university. Most people agree today that college tuition is too high or that it needs to be completely dismissed. There are some however, that may disagree with the claim about college tuition and state that college tuition is necessary for college growth, and it’s primary purpose is to pay for college expenses to support the institution financially. Research shows that college tuition is too high and that debt has become a standard in America after attending post-secondary school.
In recent news between political candidates such as Bernie Sanders, free university education has been a controversial topic. Primary and secondary education is offered for free all around the world. Education is seen as necessary. With higher education there is disagreement when it comes. Students must pay tuition to attend universities ,and they may take out student loans or grants. The state offers financial assistance to students and their families. In some countries higher education is a free because everyone has a right to attend. There are many pros and cons to free university education, but the cons outweigh the pros. Therefore, higher education should not be free.
Students living on campus don’t have to worry about time because they live in the college. On the other hand, students who commute to school, have to worry about getting to class on time. Students living on campus don’t have to waste money on transportation or food since it is all covered under a plan. Unlike commuters, who aren’t covered under a plan, they have to pay more money to get to school as well as for food. Students who live on campus tend to know more people and they know more about what’s going on around campus. However, students, who commute, don’t have that advantage because they are home most of the time. Living on campus can be more beneficial than living at home in many ways.
To give people more employment opportunities, colleges should offer free tuition. A free tuition could be a benefit for students and graduates can make more money. To get all of the benefits and to fulfill people’s needs, people should be educated. All colleges give free tuition for the students who are looking for college but can’t afford college tuition. Having free tuition at many colleges is a benefit to students.
One reason why increasing tuition fee in universities and colleges is not favorable is everyone believes education is really important for everyone. However, high tuition fee makes the education become a big equity problem. There is an ancient saying in my home country China that goes, “It probably takes about ten years for a tree to grow up, but it takes maybe one hundred years to educate a generation of people.” It emphasizes not only the difficulty but also the great significance of education. With the economic globalization gaining momentum, it goes without saying that the competition in the job market will only become more and more fierce. And in today’s world, without a proper education, it is very har...
