The Autobiography of a Dead Man

My mom always told me about the story of my birth. It was the cold, blizzardy night of January the 4th. She had been in labor for nearly 24 hours, and when I was finally born, she was happy to have a son. Up to this day, she jokes that I have been stubborn since before I was born. That was the first story of my life, and you can bet that there were many more to come. When I was born my parents, sister, and I were living in St. Paul. We lived close to my grandparent’s houses so my sister and I hung out with them quite often. Stormy, who is my sister, and I enjoyed jumping rope, drawing on the driveway with chalk, and playing hopscotch. At the age of three, my family knocked down down our cabin on Rush Lake and built a house. I am extremely glad my parents made that decision because living there has set up the foundation of my life and who I am today. My favorite things to do growing up on a lake was fishing, catching frogs, swimming, and waterskiing. Even though we didn’t live very close to any of our relatives anymore, I made many new friends there. Most of my friends growing up were made in elementary school. Many of them at recess while playing touch football or tag. When I went into middle school we lost recess, but that was okay because now I could play all the school sports. I joined football, basketball, and baseball, which was pretty much anything to keep me busy. As I went into high school I decided to quit football as I thought it was much more fun to hangout and watch the varsity games than to participate. I had many friends throughout high school. I was always having people over and throwing parties. One of the highlights of high school for me was getting my permit and then my license. It allowed me to be free and ... ... middle of paper ... ...ved to go on family trips. Our go to spot was Florida until the kids started to grow older, to about 12. That’s when we started taking trips to other countries. We had gone around Europe, Australia, a couple of countries in South America and Asia, and Morocco and South Africa. Mason and I also loved taking fishing and hunting trips to Canada and Colorado. Now that Michelle and Mason had moved out, Jennifer and I have been traveling all around the world. We have been to every continent, including Antarctica, and we have recently been traveling through Saudi Arabia. About a week and a half ago I was not feeling well, so we went to the hospital. It appeared that I had caught MERS disease and the doctor says there is no more hope for me now, so as a 50 year old man on his deathbed, I am happy with how my life turned out and hope that I have left my mark on the Earth.
