A princess, a rockstar or a cowboy; all things one may have dreamed to be as they grew up. A dream provides a reason to keep going and to reach for the unthinkable. The American Dream may seem to be dead, but it is thriving throughout this country. Opportunity allows dreams to be accomplished, and America is the land of endless opportunity. As citizens of the United States we are granted endless possibilities to improve personal lifestyle everyday. Those who believe the American Dream is dead are not taking advantage at the true potential the United States offers its citizens. It bestows immigrants with new opportunities, to commence a more suitable lifestyle while embracing their dreams. Many diverse cultures have immigrated to the U.S, causing our cultures to become conjoint. The opportunities drew them to America, and continue to beguile immigrants today. To illustrate, “Indeed, more than 60 million immigrants have come to the United States in search of the American dream. The term "melting pot" refers to the idea that the different peoples of the world who immigrated to America would mix together and become one nation”-(Elliott, David, Lines 8,9). A common controversy for equal opportunity is “The problem of sex discriminationóthe denial of equality of rights and opportunity to American people based on their genderóhas become a central issue in Congress and the courts since the 1960s.”(Newman, Lines 1-3). America has long dealt with the ability to provide equal opportunities for both men and women. Overall steps have been taken in the right direction for this to happen. Although women may be offered less opportunities, it galvanizes some women to work even harder so they too could achieve what they wish.
