Sex sells. This is a known fact and a frequently used tactic in marketing. Comparing the pleasure of sex to eating a certain restaurant's food makes it more likely that the food will be bought, thus many companies use this technique to make their product more desirable. There are several ways a company convey this message without ever saying "Our food is as good as sex!" By using color, font, centers and margins, and people's desires, a company can convey subliminal messages to sell their products. These advertisements imply that eating the restaurant's food is as enjoyable as having sex. The large style of the font catches the viewer's attention, so they will read the slogan, description, or selling points of the product being advertised. These slogans are sexual in nature and suggest the appeal of the food. The strong, serious fonts portrays feelings of power or control. The bold font also helps to emphasize a certain word or phrase the advertiser want a person to pay attention to, the word being emphasized " blow" is a double entendre. Font can convey emotions and is useful to capture the intended audience's attention. Centers and margins help direct the buyers attention to the intended focus in this case, the hamburgers that are supposedly as good as sex. Most of the burgers and sandwiches advertised are in or very near the middle of the advertisements. The first place a persons eyes generally fall on an image is the center. This is why most advertisers place their product or the focus of the advertisement in the center. Sometimes they place their product off to the side in the foreground and use the other side for the background. This puts an emphasis on the product, in this case, the burger. Other times there will be more than one focus on each side of the image to balance it out. When the product is placed on the margin part of the image is usually cut off. The sexual theme throughout the advertisements appeals mainly to males ranging from adolescent to middle aged. Each advertisement in the collage has sexual subtext aimed at males. Many men desire sex and these advertisement appeal to those desires. The burgers held in the model's arms suggest breasts. The model's open mouth and placement of the sandwich near her mouth suggest oral sex. The slogan "She'll tell you size doesn't matter. She's lying." suggest the size of a man's genitalia. These all appeal to the target audiences desire for sex. Sex is a hidden desire to most; these advertisements fulfill the desire without having to discuss said desire.
