Have you ever been in a car while someone was texting on their phone? It has been proven that 3,000 annual teens die nationwide and have more than 300,000 injuries from texting. This paper will inform you about how driving and texting is more dangerous that it looks. Please be aware most of these accidents are really hectic. Many people lose their lives every day from cellular devices. Eleven percent of all drivers under the age of 20 are involved in fatal crashes every year (Dr. Williams, 2010). All of those accidents have been reported as being distracted at the time of the crash. Admit it some people cannot resist those text messaged that’s coming to their phone. I would totally encourage people to stop texting while driving. For drivers 15-19 years of age involved in fatal crashes, 21 percent of the distracted drivers were distracted by the use of cell phones (Henry, Mark 2007). Some people think it is better for them to make a law about banning call phones while driving. Staying focused is the main thing. Taking your eyes off the road for 5 seconds will cause you to have a lethal crash. It has been proven that texting while driving leads to disastrous accidents and even death, although teenagers still find a way to text while driving. Only 41 states banned hand held cell phone use and the use of cell phones while driving. Washington was the first state to pass a texting ban law in 2007. It is major law not to use cell phones while driving. An officer can ticket the driver without any other traffic violation taking place. Also with the secondary law an officer can issue a ticket if a driver has already been pulled over for another violation like speeding. Teenagers are the main targets when it comes to this matter. In conclusion, it’s illegal to texting while driving and it’s also dangerous. While driving, adults and teenagers cannot resist the urge to pick up their cell phone and send a text or respond to one. Car crashes are four times more common to take place while the driver is on their mobile device over any other causes. Most people don’t seem to understand how careless they can be while driving a car. When they are reading a message it’s impossible for them to look in both directions so therefore all their attention goes to the text message. Why do they have a law that bans texting while driving if they’re not going to enforce it? Look around you most people are dying from this matter.
