The main character as is Temple Grandin and her disorder is autism spectrum disorder. My goal for this project is to learn more about autism and methods of managing the many issues that can be associated with it. I am also hoping to develop my research skills.
I picked this movie because it shows autism spectrum disorder really well. The area that the movie covers is neurological disorders. My diagnosis for Temple Grandin is Asperger’s Syndrome which is a form of autism. This topic of autism is very important because all people and businesses need to respect people with disabilities. Even if you cannot physically see the disability, it does not mean they don’t have one.
The questions that I will be answering in the discussion are: What is autism? What are the common sign and symptoms of autism? What are the treatments available to help with autism? And the most important question, what causes autism?
The movie Temple Grandin is a biography about a woman who was diagnosed with Asperger’s, which is a higher functioning level of autism. The film starts off with Temple Grandin as a little girl. It starts out with her staring at a chandelier in her house while her mom is trying to connect with her. Then it follows her through her life. At the beginning they go to see a psychologist who diagnoses Temple with autism. They wanted to lock her up in an institution but her mom did not want that. She kept teaching her daughter rules and conversation.
