Teenagers and Sex

Some may say that,” money is what makes the world go around”. Others may say that,”sex is what makes the world go around”. In my opinion, I believe it is a mixture of both sex and money. The survey I chose to evaluate was about teenagers having sex.

The purpose of the survey was to show that teens are having sex, but they are safer than teens were in the 80’s. According to the survey, teenage pregnancy, teenagers having sex, abortion, and sexually transmitted diseases, have declined over the pass ten years. The presence of AIDS, I feel has a lot to do with the decline. In some cases teenagers are very aware of what sexually transmitted diseases are out their and what kind of deadly affect it could bring upon your body.

The survey was conducted to see what young Americans had to say about sex. Sex is something that teenagers are faced with everyday. Peer pressure and trying to fit in with the crowd; seems to be a major reason why teenagers are having sex today. The survey proved that today’s teenagers are more aware of the consequences of having sex, and it is not a game to play around with.

The Alan Guttmacher Institute Center did the actual survey for Disease Control and Prevention Surveys, and Child Trends. The survey targeted teenagers from the age of

Fifteen to nineteen years old. Newsweek magazine was curious to know what teenagers were thinking about sex, so they conducted the research on teenagers having sex. The researchers seem to have gotten the outcome they were looking for. The big picture was to show that teenagers are aware of sex and what could happen to them if they’re not careful. Even though teenagers are aware of the fact that you could get AID’S and even end up dead, there are still more sexually transmitted diseases with teenagers, than sexually active men and women the ages 20-44.

The survey seems to have met the parents and teenagers of today. The survey wasn’t limited to just teenagers in one school. Teenagers took the survey across the United States. This survey isn’t bias because it asked questions to both males and females. Also the sexually transmitted diseases are reported to health centers and hospitals in order to help cure them.

I feel the subject surveyed was a very important issue. My sociology class was just talking about this subject a week ago.
