I don’t know how much the world is going to change in the next decade but it is for sure, by the technological advances we are having, it seems like it’s going to change even more than it did in the last 100 years. A computer which was the size of a house is now a mere 10inch box. So, what have been our latest inventions and technologies lately? How have they made a difference in our daily life? What effects do they have on us? Pakistan is the 36th largest country in the world (area vise) and it is in the developing phase. Countries these days are judged by how advanced they are in technology and we, Pakistanis, aren’t that popular as others are way ahead of us like USA, CHINA, etc. They are about to develop robots who can think whereas we are still getting familiar with laptops and Smartphone. Therefore, the technological advancements taking place in Pakistan and to identify the effect they would have on the community are necessary for us as they would help us determine the way we are headed and would also make it easier for us to mould our future accordingly for our next generation’s life to be more desirable.
At this moment, Pakistan is using the 2G technology (used for internet) which is now old [as] compared to the new technology available. This technology was introduced as it offered blazing speed for internet and also was the 1st technology which made it possible for us to send text messages. Now, in 2013 when every other country is about to start 4G technology, we are far behind. The advancement we have made here is that the 3G technology has arrived in our country and now only the approval from the board (PTA Pakistan Telecommunications Authority) is required. The 3G has even more features like video conferencing, mob...

The major technology change that has had the greatest impact on the quality of my life is the spread of uses for the Internet. The wide range of uses for the internet has extremely benefited my life. I use the Internet to keep in touch with my family from College and with my brother who is in the Air Force in Georgia. I also use the Internet to talk to my long-distance boyfriend so my phone bill doesn't get too large. I also use the Internet in a highly educational way. Not only can I take my college courses online (which is much better for me because I teach myself much better than a professor or teacher can teach me), but it can teach me about anything else I would like to know.
Improvements in agriculture, transportation, and communication between 1790 and 1860 were the stepping stones for a greater America. From the cotton gin, to the steamboat, to the telegraph, new innovations were appearing all over. America had finally begun to spread its wings and fly.
From scientific breakthroughs that revolutionized our understanding of the world to practical inventions that changed the way we live, scientific and technological developments in the 20th century have profoundly altered nearly every aspect of our lives. We usually think of these changes as wholly positive, but when you look at the destruction caused after the first two atomic bombs were dropped on Japan in 1945, this view tends to be distorted. As we can see from this horrific event, technology can be used to improve lives, but also destroy them. If you ask someone what the greatest technological breakthrough of the twentieth century was, you are sure to get mixed responses. Some will say the television, others will say modern medicine, and young people will almost certainly say the internet.
One of the latest and most controversial topics that has risen over the past five to ten years is whether or not drones should be used as a means of war, surveillance, and delivery systems. Common misconceptions usually lead to people’s opposition to the use of drones; which is the reason it is important for people to know the facts about how and why they are used. Wartime capabilities will provide for less casualties and more effective strikes. New delivery and surveillance systems in Africa, the United Air Emirates and the United States will cut costs and increase efficiency across the board. Rules and regulations on drones may be difficult to enforce, but will not be impossible to achieve. The use of drones as weapons of war and delivery and surveillance systems should not be dismissed because many people do not realize the real capabilities of drones and how they can be used to better the world through efficient air strikes, faster delivery times, and useful surveillance.
In the 1980s, first generation (1G) cell phones consisted of voice-only analog devices with limited range and features that were sold mainly in North America. In the 1990s, second generation (2G) devices consisted of voice/data digital cell phones with higher data transfer rates, expanded range, and more features. Sales of these devices expanded to Europe and Asia. In the twenty-first century, Nokia and other companies are combining several digital technologies into third generation (3G) communication devices that reach globally and feature the convergence of the cell phone, personal digital assistant (PDA), Internet services, and multimedia applications.

Another example of the change in our technology over the last century is the change in the computer. In 1946, the first electronic computer called the ENIAC took up the space of a large room. Instead of using transistors and IC chips, the ENIAC used vacuum tubes. Compared to many computers now, the ENIAC is about as powerful as a small calculator. That may not be much, but it is a milestone because there would not be computers today if it were not for the ENIAC. As the years passed, the computer became smaller and more powerful. Today, more than half of the American population has a computer in their home. The personal computers today are thousands of times more powerful than the most powerful computers fifty years ago.

It is obvious that technology changes our life a lot. According to “When Things Start to Think” written by Neil Gershenfeld, it shows me that what technology change, why it changes, and how it changes. Neil gives us some examples about technology are connecting with life, and the author gives some positive ideas for some things which are changed by new technology. I want to meanly talking about what technology has changed because it is the easiest one for me to access that. The world has happened a huge digital revolution which already promises for human a future of infinite chance to access at the speed of light, of a globally wired world, of unlimited entertainment and education within everyone ‘s reach, but now
Personally, I believe some of the most important technological advances have been made in the field of medicine. Specifically the technology used to help premature babies who are fighting for their lives. Today there is a device that “ checks vital signs such as heart rate and breathing to predict signs of distress and organ failure in premature babies before they actually happen”( Device to save ...

Pakistan has all the major ingredients necessary to become a developed nation; it has a geo-strategic location, a generous availability of natural resources and a large population in the working age. Despite having the potential to turn itself into a developed country, Pakistan has not been able to fulfill its potential.
How has technology affected us? Did it affect us in a positive or negative way? Technology has both positive and negative effects, it’s plainly about how people choose to use it. Throughout these years, technology has been a great advancement for our country and it has helped us develop in many ways that we can’t even count on. Technology has its advantages as well as its disadvantages, some of the advantages are that it makes connecting to people much easier, simpler and in addition, it makes our everyday life simpler in ways people 50 years ago never imagined it would.
