Although multifarious people may believe, that the Tasmanian devil is a vicious animal, they are not as vicious as they seem. These devils will feed off of other dead animals, and won’t go hunt for their food. Tasmanians are an endangered species. They are a carnivorous marsupial. Even though they look adorable, they are extremely fierce. The species scientific name is Sarcophilus Harrisii . (“Tasmanian Devil, Sarcophilus harrisii”). First and foremost, they live in the wild part of Tasmania, in Australia. Tasmanian devils during the day scour the land to find shelter, anywhere they can. Primarily, in caves, or bushes, hollow logs, and sometimes old wombat burrows. They lived on the mainland here of Australia, although their fossils suggest that they died out of the mainland in the 1600’s, before the Egyptians had settled. These animals are mainly black, but some have a minuscule amount of white markings, usually around the tail, and on the chest. Their oversized neck, jaws, and head, is what help them hunt. During the night, sometimes people can hear an eerie growl. What happens when a group of devils feed together at only one carcass? People can hear harsh screeching, and spine chilling screams. (“Tasmanian Devil”). In addition, these devils are carnivores. These animals can also be scavengers. Although some people would expect them to be The adult and young devils climb really well. The babies run around and climb, using their large footpads, on their back legs. They can use their back legs as friction too, this way, it stops them from sliding while they are climbing. Devils are dying, from a disease, that only they can get. This disease is called, devil facial tumor disease. It can spread just by a single bite.
