Commercials are usually created to try to see a product to a certain audience. Whether it is; cars, food, clothes, companies are always trying to sell products to the public. When it comes to cars, a director that produces a commercial might relay on sounds, visual techniques, color, or other aspect to try to capture the audience attention. However, depending on the car model, two commercials for cars may have very different audience. Therefore, a Lamborghini will have a different commercial compared to a Kia commercial. Color plays a very important role in visual commercials. It is used to capture the audience’s attention to a certain object or scenery. In a Lamborghini commercial, the director seemed to use color to their advantage. By having the Lamborghini drive against a desert background, the focus shifts to the car. The position of an object in a frame mean the different from it being the main focal point or just a background image. Such as, in the Lamborghini commercial, the director uses mostly quick cuts from wide shots to close ups, as well as a few establishing shots. This allows, just like the color, to allow the audience to focus on certain objects. Wide shots puts the focus on the scenery in which the car is driving in. This often shifts to a close up so the audience’s attention is now focused on the car instead of the scenery. This quick cut from wide shot to close up, back to wide shot, allows to audience to notice the background as well as the car. Whereas, the Kia commercial has mostly a establishing shot, in which the main point of interest is always in the middle of the screen despite the change of scenery.
