We all have music artists that we love to listen to over and over again about one hundred times, we stand in long lines to watch them live in concerts even though the ticket prices may be so expensive or may even watch their music videos an exaggerated amount of times just so that they can get the views. The point I’m trying to make is that we all have our favorites artists such Beyoncé, Kanye West, Bruno Mars, or even lady gaga but my favorite artists are hands down K.Michelle and Tamar Braxton. These ladies are so Similar but yet so different and have achieved great things in life. Kimberly Michelle A.K.A K.Michelle and Tamar Braxton are similar in so many ways it’s quite interesting and one way they are interesting is that they have similar …show more content…
One way they are different from each other is the television shows the played on or star in. Tamar Braxton is well known for staring in the show “Braxton Family value” and her spinoff show from that “Tamar and Vince” which stars her and her husband Vincent Herbert. Both reality shows the life of Tamar and her family and how they go through everyday struggles, also Tamar was a co-host on the Television Talk show called “The Real” but was eventually fired because of differences with the producers. Moving on to K.Michelle, she Starred in a reality t.v show called “love and hip hop Atlanta” which revolved around hip hop and R&B artist trying to make a comeback or new artist that are trying to make a name for themselves. She was one of the fans favorite and later on in her career got her own reality television show called “K.Michelle: My life” which is a show that is basically about her everyday struggles and her music. they also differ from the fact that both of them have different types of domesticated lives, Tamar is a wife who loves and adore her family and counts on them to have her back through thick and then whereas K.Michelle is a single mother who struggles with dating men and finding herself in a corner by herself with no one to depend
A picture tells a thousand words, and "Eleanor" by Eric Drooker says volumes. At first glance, it is a seemingly normal neighborhood, in any city in the world. We see an old woman, at the end of her life, living a meager existence and instantly you conclude that she is lonely and friendless. That is not the picture I choose to see. People assume that once a person becomes older that their life has little meaning or happiness. I see a woman who has everything she wants and needs. She surrounds herself with life, the flowers she grows and nurtures, and her cat. The flowers bring her happiness and perhaps remind her of a garden she once had. They bring color and happiness to her world. They supply her with a touch of nature, something
Times have changed, and along with the times so has country music. American country music lovers have went from Loretta Lynn and Waylon Jennings, just two of the many classic oldies, to Carrie Underwood and Luke Bryan, two very appealing country music artists. However, it is not only the tune of the music that has changed, it is the image, the appeal, and overall the type of icons the media is portraying these modern music stars as. Icons such as Lynn and Jennings had identifiable features within their music as well as their appearance that spoke sweet southern belle and rugged twang. Whereas Underwood’s and Bryan’s appeal now is much more sexualized than it was during the oldies. These changes affect the way modern day singers are marketed compared to former country music stars, instead of focusing on talent it is now looks.
Benjamin Banneker was a primarily self-educated child of a former slave who became a prominent African American renaissance man and activist during the 18th century. In 1791, Banneker wrote a letter to Thomas Jefferson, the aim of which was to challenge Jefferson on the topics of slavery and racism, and hopefully get him to change his opinions and eventually take further action. He called upon tone, alluding to historical events, and juxtaposing the difference between Jefferson’s own writings and actions in order to drive his point home.

Tania Bruguera is a performance, installation, and video artist. She was born and grew up in Havana Cuba; and she currently works in New York and Havana. The pop music stars that fascinates me… I have many, such as Justin Bieber, Demi Lovato, Austin Mahone, Ariana Grande, and Tori Kelly. But, for today I will go into depth with the male being Justin Bieber and the female being Demi Lovato. Many people wonder, so many times from time and time again what do I see in these artist. Well to be honest, they have a story that made them who they are today, which is a strong, independent, calm, and inspirational person. Take Justin Bieber for instance, many people find him impulsive and immature from the events that have occurred in the past up until now. Everyone knows about the Miami incident that occurred a year and 7 months ago. He’s showing many that he’s taken the consequences with what he did
Modesty vs. Floozy is how I would describe the difference between Miley Cyrus and Sadie Robertson. Both young girls have spent their teenage years in the spotlight surrounded by tabloids, the media, television, and money. Each one has taken completely different roads throughout the fame and fortune, and each one has had some type of impact on people throughout America. They have also had the same amount of exposure in the media, starting at a young age.
In her book, “The Cry of Tamar: Violence against Women and the Church’s Response,” Pamela Cooper-White analyzes the patriarchal nature of men in our society to assert themselves over women, or those who are perceived as being “weak” or “indefensible,” in order to establish their power and dominance. Be it due to a need to feel superior, or out of innate fear of losing their masculinity, and thus being removed from their place of entitled authority. Pamela Cooper-White is calling the church, as well as the community, who may otherwise turn a blind eye to these despicable acts, to stand together in support of the victims, offering a safe haven where they may have otherwise felt they had no place of refuge.
n Prelude, Katherine Mansfield explores issues of sexual frustration and the restrictions on female identity in a patriarchal society, as experienced by three generations of Burnell women. Linda Burnells responses to male sexuality are tainted by their inevitable association to her obligations in fulfilling her role as a wife and a mother, both of which Linda has shown indifference towards. As a result, Linda's own sexuality suffers under feelings of oppression.
In her article “But What Do You Mean” Deborah Tannen, claims that there is a huge difference in the style of communicating between men and women. Tannen breaks these down into seven different categories; apologies, criticism, thank-yous, fighting, praise, complaints, and jokes. With each of these she compares men to women by explaining the common misconceptions that each of the genders do. The different style of communication can cause some problems at the workplace and even affect the environment. The different styles of communication has been around forever and almost becomes a “ritual”(299). Tannen is effective with mainly women and not men. She is primarily successful with women due to the fact that her tone targets women, also the organization
Without a doubt there is one major performer that certainly stands out within our pop culture world. The name of this very famous American icon is, Dolly Parton. Dolly has surpassed any rags to riches story that ever lived. She has touched the lives of so many individuals over many decades through her many talents. Dolly started her career at a very young age and continued fulfilling her life endeavors through country music, pop music, and even acting. This American icon didn’t stop with just her talents, she also gave back to our society through charity, fundraising, and establishing her own theme park. Dolly Parton was brought up in a very poor family, however through much dedication she became the famous icon everyone idolized today.
On the 11th annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Mariah Carey was given the chance to induct Gladys Knight and the Pips who were a soul and R&B family group into this Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. She gave a heartwarming speech on how Ms. Knight was a huge impact. Some words she said were, “ thank you so much for being a constant influence on me.” Mariah Carey was also inspired by different genres of music like Jazz, Gospel, R&B, Soul, Pop, Dance, soft rock, hip hop, and country. To add on, Mariah Carey was blessed with the opportunity to perform with the queen of soul, Aretha Franklin. They performed on live television singing Aretha Franklin’s hit song, “Chain of Fools.” Aretha and her met at the Grammy’s and became good friends. Mariah Carey is often referred to as our generation Aretha Franklin and is often compared to Whitney Houston and Celine
...hat do not judge or hate people who are different from the average Joe. There is no doubt about it that both of these women are incredible icons to many people and that in fact they do have a lot of similarities; but they also have their differences which make them more appealing to all sorts of diverse people.
