The penny is a significant form of currency, but also the most useless. When I think of pennies, I think that it is another piece of metal that I won't use and most of the time throw in the tip jar. Pennies are useless because of how outdated, expensive to make, and worthless they are. Pennies were useful back in the day because they had more value. But because of inflation the penny lost most of its value in society. They are more trouble than they're worth (Source A) . Pennies are also outdated because today most people use debit or credit cards which takes away from having to lug around coins in your pocket or wallet to pay for anything that is worth value. Penneys had a lot of value in history. Things only cost $0.10, or they had “penny candy.” They didn't have debit cards or …show more content…

They require government agents to produce pennies in the mint. The government agents could be using time to track down counterfeiters. pennies cost labor because you have to put them into circulation when 2/3 of the panties drop out of circulation instantly (source C) The pennies also cost more money to produce than that how much they're actually worth pennies are actually worth less than they are physically worth.

Pennies are also wasting people's time and money. when people have to fish pennies out of their bags it takes on average 30 seconds that's take out of their day to find useless pieces of metal the fact that a person have to waste on average 4 hours a year to fish out a penny to pay for their items is ridiculous if they could just hand them a debit card actually pay for whatever (Source B)

The time of the penny is over and it's outgrown its usefulness as a currency as things like inflation happens. The currency also is having a negative effect on the economy and is seen as useless as a currency as literally two thirds of them drop out of circulation instantly.
