The term feminism was first officially coined in 1872. 143 years ago. A century ago. Fourteen decades ago. Yet, still woman must vehemently fight for the equality that inherently should be ours. The primary goal of feminism is the justified equality for women politically, socially, culturally, and economically. Until this destination is reached, our world will not be unified as it should. We are beckoning equality; we are crying for justice.
With the gender pay gap, white women essentially work 59 days every year for free. Black women, 94 days. Hispanic women, 117 days. Where is the equality?

Jeanne Sahadi stated on CNN Money that, “In 2014, the median income for men who worked full-time was $50,383. Following the October Revolution, Lenin and his new government appointed Kollontai to the Commissar of Social Welfare, making her the only female member of the new government. Kollontai initially saw the position as an opportunity to enact real social change. She later called it a time of “magnificent illusions” in her autobiography, signaling her appointment served more to placate her and her contemporaries rather than enact real change.
CRITICISMS The above mentioned theories have been criticized by many feminists. ‘Feminists have found Freud to be not only enraging, but intriguing in assessing whether his claims are accurate descriptions of sex roles and the reproduction of patriarchy’. Following are some of the critiques – Luce Irigaray, in her books ‘The Sex Which is Not One and Speculum of the Other Woman, sees psychoanalysis as problematic as ‘it reduces sexual difference to sexual oneness in a phallocentric society’. She further claims that psychoanalysis limits desire for women and destroys the relationships between women, beginning with the mother/daughter relationships (as noted during the oedipal stage).
Historians say that art of a particular era reflects on how the society thinks and functions during that time. Any form of art- be it music, paintings, sculptures, poetry and movies (tech generation right) form part of the legacy we leave for generations to come. If some soul, say two centuries later, sees Indian media content today, here is what they would think of women: materialistic, shallow, opportunistic and with a skewed sense of morals. Any average Kollywood (even Bollywood, but let’s just focus on Tamil) follower can easily rattle of a list of songs which curse women because they refused ‘true love’. It can also be a case of ‘misogynitis’ where all women do is use boyfriends for their money.
When it comes to enrollment in post-secondary math and science programs are women discouraged or simply disinterested? Your run of the mill feminist will insist that the gap is caused by systematic bias, and that women are discriminated against in math and science. Is this an accurate reflection of reality or a scandalous omission of other important variables? Is it sexism or is it biological determinism that accounts for the gender disparity in Stem fields? My opinion is that there is no quantifiable systematic bias in educational institutions.
Being a woman I’ve always been accused of being a feminist when I stand up and say I can do something men think I can. But I’m on my school’s men’s golf team. I may not be quite as good but I can stand my ground. In society though men are thought of as stronger and because of that they are given dominance in many circumstances..
