A liveable city should be a place for all - no matter what their age, sex, physical ability, socio-economic status, or cultural background. This project envision the Gold Coast be a city that is safe and healthy for all. Liveability is critical to the establishment of an ecological city. Most modern cities want to be considered livable. Because it is a title that attracts investments opportunities, boost local economies and real estate markets, and foster community engagement (livablecities.org). The city will promote product stewardship with businesses and consumers recognising a responsibility for the waste generated from production processes, packaging and consumption. This initiative will help the Gold Coast minimize its waste production significantly.
7.0 An Eco-city - a city that reduces its ecological and carbon footprint
In an ecological city people and businesses strive to reduce their ecological footprint by adapting to climate and building sustainable city. An eco-city has a healthy environment, with a high quality of life and a growing economy (City of Melbourne, 2012). The City Gold Coast will significantly reduce its ecological and carbon footprint, while contributing to the fight against global warming.
