The Sniper is a suspenseful story that is written by Liam O’Flaherty. It is a battle between two snipers in an epic battle. The sniper is a story set in Dublin in the middle of the Irish civil war and it shows how war destroys families. The author uses pacing and order to create suspense by rapid conflicts, speeding up and slowing down the momentum of the story. The use of rapid fire conflict create suspense because it keeps you thinking and doesn’t give the reader to analyze. The part where the author goes from “I’m hit” to “Dropping flat onto the roof.” to “Quickly he drew a knife” are in close proximity(O’Flaherty 1). All three quotes are back to back and this order doesn’t allow you to think about the reason the sniper dropped to the roof
