Women’s Suffrage Movement was the fight to allow women the right to vote. The movement happened in the 19th century. Both women and men fought for women’s rights.A lot of time and effort went into trying to get women their rights. They finally won the fight when the 19th amendment was passed. The first gathering was held on July 19th-20th, 1848, in Seneca Falls, New York. The convention was led by Elizabeth Stanton and Lucretia Mott. They put the convention together quickly and did not advertise it a lot yet they still got over 200 people to come to it. The Seneca Falls Convention was a gathering for the women’s suffrage movement. They talked about their ideas. Also, they made new friends and or alliance members. One of the most important would be Susan B. Anthony. Anthony was born in 1820 and later died in 1906. In 1848, she was teaching in a school where she ended up finding out that men made $8.50 more than women did. After that her family and her attended a Women’s Rights Convention. Later, She went around the country trying to get people to join them fighting for women’s rights. She gave speeches and had petitioned for the rights of women. In 1850, Susan B Anthony met Stanton. The two of them decided to work together as women’s rights activists. Later on, Anthony and Stanton petitioned that Congress should include women in the 14th and 15th amendments. This attempt however was unsuccessful though Anthony and Stanton did not give up on helping the Women’s Suffrage Movement. In 1872, Anthony registered and voted in the election in Rochester, New York. She was arrested for voting for a representative to the congress of the United States. She was fined $100 dollars but she said she would never pay a penny of and two years later she went to congress and claimed that her conviction was unjust and that the fine should be
