The Supreme Court simulation was helpful for increasing my understanding of the United States court system; the entire process was educational and enjoyable. Throughout the assignment, additional research on the case was minimal; the reason being was because the information sheets provided of the case was very informative. In fact, only small details were taken from the online research. My individual work was ample and done with attention; the opening statement is one of the key components of the Supreme Court simulation. Consequently, the statement was edited and finalized multiple times until the team agreed upon a final product. I felt like my hard work is exhibited through that, and the opening statement turned out very well. For the group …show more content…
Thus, I put in as much work as possible, knowing that this will be one of the first grades of semester two, into the project. In addition, the group effort was superb; everybody finished their tasks well and on time. To the team, I led our members and instructed each person for what they had to accomplish; the notes were formatted and finalized by me. Like the others, I typed a quarter of the notes and edited the entire paper. Furthermore, I prepared my entire team by printing out the script prior to presentation day and told each person what to do. Lastly, the matrix was done with detail, but not all boxes are equally detailed. The reason being was because teams who were clearer gave me a greater understanding of their case and goals. Next, my project was complete and finished prior to the due date, and I was able to finish the project due to the hard work of my team. Every individual participated and did not slack off. Therefore, we were able to be successful in being efficient. As a result of the completion of the project, I feel great and proud of the hard work of my team because each of us cared about the project. The assignment took one week in total to complete, and we worked almost every day of that time period-including our weekends. Thus, I am proud due to the time and effort we put into the
I created each section, following the requirements of the project, while adding in slides that would help further the understanding of the case. Moreover, I was in charge of allocating each member a part of the project and did so by starting a group chat, which I would check and regularly correspond with each member, helping them find information in both academic journals and online resources. For my specific part in the slides I focused on the controversial aspects of the case such as the guarantee of acquittal and stereotypes that may come about due to the branding of battered women and the use of expert testimony in which I focused on the charge to the jury and the usefulness of the expert. I used the textbook along with online resources and academic journals to understand both issues and to solidify a comprehensive anecdote on the topics. Finally I proof read each of the group member’s work and formatted it so each side looked the same and were appealing. I then compiled the sources used and put them into APA format in accordance with the schools citing

To improve on their argument, I believe they could have explored more sides of how society was involved and make their statements less easily refutable. In conclusion, I believe my team was somewhat successful in challenging my opposing team’s arguments because we could still strengthen our argument to make it more evident that my team won the
In "The Nine" the book was composed by Jeffery, Toobin, he recorded and discusses the greater part of the nine Justices, yet concentrates significantly more intensely on Sandra Day O'Connor and Anthony Kennedy for the way that they are the two whose vote swung such a large number of choices. Clarence Thomas is seen as a gregarious and active individual however astringent and pushing a legitimate and political theory that is so out of. As he invests more energy in the seat the impression given by Toobin is that he is mailing it in, in truth in one year he never made one inquiry all through all the oral contentions. Scalia, Ginsburg, and Stevens are depicted as profoundly insightful however wedded to the other side or the other. Rehnquvist is depicted as a sharp overseer who as his profession advanced turned out to be less associated with influencing the law as he was in ensuring it was proficiently handled. Breyer and Souter had all the more light appeared toward them. Souter was remarkable in light of the particularly odd or parsimonious way of life he lives, he still just uses a wellspring pen for instance. Breyer, a realist and
For the court observation assignment, I visited the Tolland County Courthouse. I went to court on Tuesday April 4th, 2017 from 11am to 12:30pm. The matters I observed in the courtroom regarded a restraining order from an ex-girlfriend to her ex-boyfriend. The details involved in the case included the welfare of their three-month-old baby and the custody battle.

The presentation was also an impressive experience. I never made a presentation in front of “foreigners” in English before, so I was very nervous, however, the feedback from professor and other students was very important. I used the form, short story, but after the presentation, professor told me that I cannot use short story as form and some students suggested me to use an advertisement to convey my message. My project’s goal was also kind of ambiguous.
At the beginning I was really afraid to express my opinion about my team project, but all my team members are really friendly and willing to listen to my opinions. I really had good time while doing this project, as a communicator in my group, I made Google doc to let every member give their own opinions and that is also a good method to discuss our project online. Moreover, I designed the PowerPoint and provided lots of pictures to make our project wonderful. For our presentation, even though I felt so nervous and could not speak well on my presentation, my team members are really nice and encourage me a lot. For the team paper, I divided into four parts to discuss more details about our main points of the topic; at first I thought that it would be difficult to do this part, yet one of my team members used interesting way, Rock-paper-scissors, it is a fair way to do it, and every members are willing to do this. In short, I really enjoyed doing this project and had great time with all of my team
For the Global Tech simulation, we were arranged into groups with individuals we had not become acquainted with beforehand. Subsequently, there were no personal introductions or pre-class strategy meetings in preparation for our first class meeting on that Saturday. When the instructions were initially given and our simulation experience began, it was quickly realized, by the team that time was going to be of the essence. We immediately confronted the fact that there was no way we could watch all of the interviews provided in the simulation. After everyone had begun making mental and physical notes about the interviews we had already viewed, we collectively decided from there which interviews were going to be the most important for us to observe
For my observation, I chose to observe a civil case that had to do with a divorce. I did some research on the cases, and chose one that was similar to an experience I went through. My parents are currently separated, and my father simply refused to pay child support. He lives outside of the state, so it was hard for my mother to have face to face confrontation with him. She got tired of raising three kids on her own, and finally decided to take him to court. I was required to serve as a witness. This took place in 2009, so I was thirteen years old and didn’t really understand much of what was going on. I timidly walked to the stand and was sworn in. I then answered the questions the attorney asked me.
In the end, my team and I got an A- for our presentation and paper. I believe that this project was completely successful and although there were some difficult times throughout the process, I am proud to say that we all stayed committed to the project. I feel that this was my most significant leadership experience because I used everything I learned through my experience in business organizations to make this project come to life. I felt that I showed the qualities of a good leader because I was determined, motivated, worked well with the team, delegated tasks to the team effectively, and communicated with the team to make this project
I could have tried to make ti so that when I was done I could have tied the whole analogy together and made it connect to all the skills that I said I have improved on. For showing my progress as a learner I think the way that I presented was one of the main things that showed some of my progress making it so that you could actually here me when I was giving my presentation which is something that has always been a problem when I have to talk in front of people. I also think that even though at the end of my presentation I didn’t obviously say my over all opinion about how I have improved I thought my evidence that I had given through out the presentation worked well with the points that I was trying to say I improved on. Along with making sure that what I was comparing it to was very specific so that people didn’t start to think of another part of the project that I was using that I might to have improved on confusing them. Over all I think that my POL compared to others was not to bad. I think for sure that I did better then last year because of how I presented this time
I am proud of myself for picking team members that I didn’t previously know before this class. I had friends in this class but chose not to work with them because we learned that this is usually not the best idea. I’m proud of myself for going out of my comfort zone and introducing myself to new people and meeting a team to work with. If I were to change anything/done things differently I would have been a little tougher on certain team members. Sometimes people would get very controlling or slack off
There are many things I could have worked on during my presentation and I feel as if I will be responsible for them to have a lower grade on this assignment. One content issue I had was my article. I not only confused the other students but I confused myself. There are two things I think I could have done to make the content more understandable. First, I could have formatted differently to make it less confusing. Another thing I could have done to get rid of content issues is fix the errors that were on the slides that were not only confusing for me but again the students.
This was a long-term design project, and everything was fresh to me. Patience was the crucial and essential factor that was needed in such a long project in my view. Fortunately, I learned and gained the patience. Besides, communication was another extremely significant factor. It was essential to communicate and discuss with the pathway tutors and the course mates regularly, for the information of the tutor was the most useful advice in the process of major project. Overall, I achieved these two important factors which also could be described as strengths.
