We all listen to it or at least hear it daily, and we never take the time to think about how it has seeped into our lingo and influences the way we live our lives daily. As an art form hip-hop has influenced nations of people. Though many factors have contributed to its growth in popularity, many are noticeable such as its relationship with fashion. People believe that music has an innate relationship with fashion,as if they influence each other. Fashion is where hip-hop artist are some of the biggest commercial influencers on the planet. Some believe this started in the 1990’s , when the b-boy culture was popular. Which gave sportswear brands such as Reebok, FILA, PUMA and others to advertise through hip-hop artist. Such as famous pop star Katy Perry has took into notice how popular hip-hop is. Migos are one of the most influential rap groups their is and they have done song with Katy Perry called “Bon Appetite”, the song has no real message other than to be listening too. Katy perry has also done a song with Juicy J another artist. In an interview with Russell Simmons who has been named top 25 of the most influential people in the world, he basically stated that he built his foundation on Hip-Hop. Russell said so himself “Honestly, it has a greater share of integrity than most pop phenomenon and consistently(Vikas Shah). Russell has built his entire brand on Hip-hop, you could even describe him as a hip-hop advocate(Vikas Shah).
