4.1 INTRODUCTION Structural analysis is a process to analyze a structural system to predict its responses and behaviors by using physical laws and mathematical equations. The main objective of structural analysis is to determine internal forces, stresses and deformations of structures under various load effects. In this chapter, the structural plan is taken and it is designed in the sap2000 software by taking the center line diagram and firstly a basic ground level is designed and then the required no of levels is placed according to their different levels of height. The objective of non-linear analysis is to estimate the maximum load that a structure can support prior to structural instability or collapse. The maximum load which a structure can carry safely may be calculated by simply performing an incremental analysis using non-linear formulation. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, “When the opportunity presents itself for you to defeat your enemy, that is the time which you must not do it,” embodying his philosophy of mutual “Christian love.” Up until the Civil Rights Movement, discrimination and racism had been a major problem in the United States. King’s An Experiment in Love was a declaration of principles, introducing his idea of agape, neighborly, “Christian” love, which he also described as “the love of God toward his creations.” Later, Jane Elliot, whose experiments were documented in A Class Divided, studied discrimination among young children, and Abbey Crain and Matt Ford described an incident of discrimination occurring at their school, the University of Alabama, in the article The Final Barrier: 50 Years Later, Discrimination Still Exists. Harper Lee’s book To Kill a Mockingbird is a love story as interpreted by An Experiment in Love because agape is portrayed in many forms throughout the course of its events.
Thematic analysis is espoused to be the foundational approach to qualitative analysis and methods (Saunders et al., 2016 as stated in Braun and Clarke, 2006: 78) and it is a useful method used to identify and analyse the order and patterns of qualitative data (Attride-Stirling, 2001). Qualitative research method depicts the correlation that exists between data and events, creating the pictorial representation of what one thinks a given data says (Saunders et al., 2016). They also opined that, qualitative data analysis is cogent, interactive and iterative. Also, Joana and Jill (2011) and Saunders et al (2016) postulate that, qualitative research brings meanings from words and images as opposed to numbers. However, despite its robustness and rigour of its application, it is skewed more to the interpretivist ideologies since researchers draw conclusion from participants and the hypothesis being forecasted (Joana and Jill, 2011; Saunders et al., 2016).
There are three major theoretical perspectives that make up society: structural functionalism, conflict theory, and symbolic interactionism. However, everyone views the world differently; it is vital to know the different theoretical perspectives in order to understand how society functions as a whole.
Everyone goes through stages of life and everyone goes through them differently, there are some people that will go through life and not have any problems. While there are some people who will go through life and then will get a disease that will slowly kill them. Does getting a disease in old age make it harder for a person to live the rest of their life out? The functionalist perspective would best explain the expected outcomes, because it tries to help out society and make sure there is some stability.
To conceptualize, choose, and use effectively a distinct theoretical approach, a therapist really needs to conceptualize change, define his values, and articulate their core beliefs about other people. It's good to be exposed to a variety of theories in order to have a solid base when working with clients. After all, a theory provides the counselor with a framework that they can use to explore the counseling process, the client’s problems, and to measure progress. Theories are very diverse and unique to each therapist. A key component to choosing a theoretical orientation lies within a therapist’s view of how people change and to which theoretical approach matches that view of change. Counselors lean towards utilizing those theories that are congruent to their own attitudes and values. Throughout this semester, I have gravitated towards the person-centered approach, cognitive behavior theory, and solution-focused model. I will discuss how I believe people change followed by my personal opinion about these certain theories that promote that change.

“Language and Literature from a Pueblo Indian Perspective” an essay written by Leslie Marmon Silko brings to life the diversified facets of the Pueblo Indian culture, sharing with readers the infrastructure of Puebloan dialect and folklore. Likewise, Amy Tan’s essay “Mother Tongue” details a series of prominent reflections of the nurturing voice responsible for constructing the author’s perceptions of the world. Both of these essays share a corresponding theme of the influence one’s culture can have on can have on individual styles of communication. The implication of the nonfiction elements plot and setting throughout the piece allows the author to adequately reinforce the theme of each piece. Each essay embodies commonalities, as well as, differences in the nonfiction elements used to depict the common theme.
Throughout American history, the media has played an important role in creating and molding social constructions relating to race and crime. Conceptually, the idea that a persons’ race is driven by external, physical characteristics. However, every human being on the planet shares the exact same number of chromosomes and sequences of deoxyribonucleic acids. Likewise, differing appearances between people hailing from different parts of the world show genetic adaptations to the environment from which they came. Scientifically, all human beings are of one race, limited only by their ability or inability to better their current situation.
“Writing, form of human communication by means of a set of visible marks that are related, by convention, to some particular structural level of language” (Encyclopædia Britannica). It all started in 4th grade. The grammar, the writing, and the dreaded 5 paragraph structure. In today’s world, kids learn the 5 paragraph structure and clinging onto it throughout middle school, high school, and even in college. A couple questions asked when talking about structure is why are students taught to write in this form, when and why would you not want to use this form, and why should we not be teaching the 5-paragraph structure to children in today’s society. Society thinks that this rule helps kids prepare their writing skills for the future, but is it really just holding them back? The world of literacy is constantly changing, so yes it is holding children back.
Sociologists view functionalism as both a macro and a micro perspective. From a macro perspective, functionalism promotes the ideal that everyone and everything has a particular place within society, which in turn influences the structure of society. A macro example of Functionalism is seen by sociologists through the interactions of a national school system. Primary school prepares children for the possibility of a higher education that will prepare them for a job, instilling the order and ideals of society within youths so that they understand its expectations. Afterward, they head off to secondary school to apply what they have learned and choose a profession that will best benefit them and society. This promotes the large-scale organization
Emile Durkheim’s Functionalist Theory is predicated on the ideologies that society is composed of components that are dependent on each other. Auguste Comte developed functionalism; Durkheim compared society to the human body. The body consists of different, interrelated organs that support it to survive; society consists of different workings that enable it to survive. There is a state of stability within society and if any component of that society alters it will reorganize itself to maintain stability. Functionalism will interpret the components of society in terms of contributions to the stability of the whole society. Social accord, direction and integration are paramount views of functionalism; society will endure and grow due to the shared norms and values; all individuals have a goal and vested interest to conformity and thus conflict is minimized (Pope, 1975).
