Comparing Holocaust Stories
The holocaust was a terrible point in history where Jewish people were killed and treated with prejudice. I feel Night showed how prejudice the Germans were to the Jew better than “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas” because it tells Elie’s story from his point of view with his feelings while the movie was about a German kid meeting a Jewish kid and becoming friends. Even though both sources are good, I feel Night gives us more information on how they were treated.
Night is a story about what the author Elie went through and did as a Jew in a concentration camp during WW2. Elie gives us a look into the hardships and daily life of a Jew during these times, allowing us to see how they were judged and treated like dogs. …show more content…

While the adults show their disgust and hatred to the Jews, Bruno doesn't mind them and is nice to Pavel, the Jew that got him the tire, and later becomes friends with Shmuel. Bruno’s father is a soldier and is in charge of the concentration camp. Even with all the Jew hating Germans around him, he still goes out to visit Shmuel and doesn’t let them ruin his friendship. Near the end of the movie Bruno shows his friend how much he cares by entering the camp to help look for Shmuel’s father, who had gone missing. While entering the camp, Bruno learned first hand how bad the camps actually were and wished he hadn’t come. Even with these feelings he still wants to help his friend, which eventually leads to his demise.
The holocaust was a dark event in our history, and works like these help us get a deeper view of what happened. I feel that with all things considered Night gives us a better look at the prejudice the Jews faced during WW2. Night showed us the struggles 15 year old Elie had to face as a Jew living in a concentration camp. Though “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas” Shows us how a young boy has a big enough heart to be friends with a kid no one wants him to be around, Night shows us the harsh treatment and verbal abuse the Jews got.
