Steve Forbes Steve Forbes is a conservative Republican. As President, Steve will advance the United States back to its undisputed world leader status. The Forbes Administration will pursue three objectives in obtaining this status. The first and foremost objective is to protect American sovereignty and security. The second objective is advancing individual liberty and human rights. The last is opening new markets and expanding existing markets throughout Asia. Steve Forbes believes the next President must begin a major rebuilding of our military. Our armed forced are now hollowed out. The United States military personnel are not being adequately paid. There been reports out of China that Buddhist and Christians are being tortured because of their religion. Methods of torture reported include the crushing of Christians feet and ankles as they are forced to kneel, tormenting with electric cattle prongs and the execution of prisoners to obtain their organs for sale.(Freedomhouse.com) They also exploit these religious prisoners for profit, often using them for slave labor to produce export goods. For example, "China’s slave labor camps operate 140 export enterprises, selling products to over 70 countries, including the U.S. But in 1997, Congressman Chris Smith, introduced a bill to keep China’s slave labor products out of our country. Moreover, economic interdependence promotes peaceful trade between countries since it is beneficial and avoids war at all cost. For example, “China’s economy is thoroughly integrated in this complex interdependence global economy,” thus it would be suicidal for China to start war (Wong, The Rise of Great Powers, Nov.18). China free trades with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and has developed a profitable relationship that led to trade surplus (Kaplan, pg.3). As a result, starting conflicts with the ASEAN will threaten the Chinese economy because it will drastically impact free trade and will cause a downfall in profits. The possibility of war between China and United States is remote because China would rather benefit from resources such as, security, technology, and market that United States provides (Wong, The Rise of Great Powers, Nov.18). Although economic power shifts to China, United States provides security because it has always been the dominant hegemony; therefore, it has a better and powerful economy (Green, pg.34). It is evident that China’s economy is rapidly increasing, but it still has no interest in being the head hegemony and therefore does not challenge United States. That being said, countries choose to avoid conflicts with United States or their trading partners since it will negatively impact their markets and investments.

China is the most populous state in the world, with over 1.3 trillion inhabitants (Central Intelligence Agency 2010). Because of its large population base, China also has the largest military and a booming economy that is third only America and Japan in terms of GDP; however, economic trends show that Japan’s economy is stagnating, while the American Chinese economies continue to spike upward (Google, Inc. 2010). Despite its growing economy and large military force, China lags behind America in technology and naval power. Chinese Admiral Wu Shengli said, “The Navy will move faster in researching and building new-generation weapons to boost the ability to fight in regional sea wars under the circumstance of information technology” (Xuequan 2009). This quote shows that China wants to remain a regional sea power, and not develop a blue-water navy that can compete with the American navy. Furthermore, a Popular Mechanics article showed the world that China was stealing American military “leap ahead” technology, or technology that is decades ahead of Chinese technology (Cooper 2009).

Discuss the role of leadership and how it can impact organizational performance. The role of leadership is the most important part of an organization. Leadership is having the ability to influence people to trust, believe and follow the vision. There are several different types of leadership styles such as transactional, leader- member exchange, and authentic to name a few. Transactional leadership appeal to an employee’s self-interest which involves motivation in some way to get the employee to do what is needed. This leader mostly deals with employees achieving a goal, then being rewarded for accomplishments. “Leader-member exchange suggests that leaders develop different relationships with each of their subordinates through a series of work-related transactions.” (Hellriegel and Slocum, 2011, p.323) This leadership is a type of bonding between leader and employee or obligation to each other. Authentic leadership deals with a person’s knowledge of self, their beliefs, values, and acting on a clear faith system through honesty and communication with employees. This leadership is more personal than the others because it pulls from an individuals’ personal belief value system.

His father, Howard, was a stockbroker and also became a member of congress. Warren showed early signs of being entrepreneurial through being involved in various business dealings as a child. He also made his first investment in the stock market when he was just 11 years old.
Microsoft is a computing software company. Microsoft was made and founded on April 4th 1975 by two young men who were captivated by computers. Their names were Bill Gates and Paul Allen. The homebase was in Redmond, Washington. Microsoft became one of the most famous and successful companies in the world. “Microsoft was one of the pioneers responsible for bringing the personal computer into the lives of millions of people.” (Musolf). The company has had such a great impact that now the name “Microsoft” is now virtually synonymous with computer software.
The United States has committed to defend Taiwan if attacked by China in the Taiwan Relations Act of 1979, in which the US President Carter officially began diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China and gave token recognition to their “One China Policy” and its agenda of reunification. Instead of maintaining a significant deployable military force in the region, the United States has sold billions of dollars worth of arms to Taiwan, from small arms, to ships, fighter aircraft, and patriot missiles. Despite the arms sales to Taiwan and vows to defend it if attacked, the United States also has significant economic ties to both China and Taiwan. Since then, it has been trying to maintain the “status quo” of the current situation. Given these sets of circumstances, China, Taiwan and the United States have much to gain and even more to lose if an armed conflict erupts in the Taiwan Strait.

His mother, Jackie, was in her teens when he was born and she was only married to his biological father for about a year. She married Mike Bezos when Jeff was four. Mike was a Cuban who escaped to the United States when he was fifteen. He put himself through college in New Mexico and eventually became an engineer at Exxon.
Steve Jobs was born in San Francisco, California on February 24, 1955. He was adopted at birth by Paul Reinhold Jobs and Clara Jobs and moved from San Francisco to Mountain View, California when he was five years old. Jobs became interested in and developed a hobby of technical tinkering. Not surprisingly, school officials recommended that he skip two grades on account of his test scores. Following his high school graduation in 1972, Jobs enrolled at Reed College in Portland, Oregon. Board and annoyed by the structure of college he dropped out after six months and spent the next 18 months dropping in on creative classes that he found interesting. Jobs would later in his career reveal the immense value gained from his time of freely attending the classes he found interesting.
