In the book “The Importance of Being Earnest” there were lots of stereotypes about gender. Certain woman were very rude like Lady Bracknell “Mr. Worthing! Rise, sir, from this semi-recumbent posture. It is the most indecorous”. She did not care if her comments affected person that she was directing them at.
She was always so sassy and rude and always trying to find rich men for her daughter.
Woman like Lady Braknell thought that they should be the one making choices for whom their daughters should be with. They did not take into consideration their daughter’s feelings or what they wanted or liked or looked for in a man.
Men like Earnest had no chance of being with ladies because they wasn’t very rich, or did not come from a family with important names, so in their mind they …show more content…

I believe that many men did the same thing for different reasons.
Some of them to marry the woman they want, some of them to get better jobs, and some of them simply for the reason to be respected
Men like Mr Wothing were judged just for who they are by rich people.

Some women still today are pushed to find rich men mostly by their parents, some parents try to choose husbands for their daughters. They are looking for a certain stereo type that they believe their daughter deserve. Which in my mind is very wrong. Every person should be able to make a choice who do they like and who makes them happy. Some people also love to catfish on social media today which is what Earnest was doing in the book, I feel that different genders fake who they really are because in their mind they are still not excepted for who they are, just like Mr.Worthing did in this book . In the older days woman would need to wear certain clothes, certain hair do and certain make up, so they could find a rich man that her parents would approve of.
