Many travelers had to flee their home countries in order to have a new start in life. The only way they could accomplish that is by following what the American Dream had provided them. The American dream states that all people can work hard and life a happy and successful life. America has and will provide access the American Dream. However, some people would argue that America today doesn’t provide access to the American Dream to incoming travelers from different countries. Stephen Stone the president and editor of “Renew America” argues that,” Because the American Dream is largely misunderstood, as well taken for granted it is in danger of disappearing all together” (Stone 6-7). Stone is showing the world that the dream has been taken over by education and the government. People can argue that America doesn’t provide people with the American Dream today but it’s also important to know much big of an impact it had the people who left their home countries to start a new life in America. …show more content…

Joseph Brucharc wrote a poem “Ellis Island”. The poem tells a story of a boy’s grandparents who came to America through Ellis Island. The important part of the whole poem is when he says, “ I too come to this island, nine decades the answerer of dreams” ( Bruchac 15-17). The island was answering the people’s dreams. The journey was hard because all they came with was some of their belongings. Many immigrant’s friends and family behind just to start a new journey in America. Another thing has changed America was the Civil Rights movement that changed most of America and into a equal country for all
