The role and status of women is dramatically explored in Shakespeare’s Othello, this is demonstrated through the way women are presented, and the way they are treated by other characters throughout the play. The female characters, Desdemona, Emilia and Bianca, whilst all having different statuses, have similar roles in terms of the function they serve to the plot of Othello.
