Karan Laxmikant Ratnaparkhi MS – Computer Science Fall - 2014 STATEMENT OF PURPOSE It is said that “Curiosity is the mother of invention”. The process of approaching a concept with the curiosity and to understand its fundamentals has always aroused that curiosity in me. My interest in computer science has been akin to a biological growth process. Nurtured by the knowledge imbibed in me by my teachers and books alike, it has developed gradually and exponentially. After 2.5 years of work experience in the IT industry, my interest has blossomed into a desire. I have a longing to delve into the sciences, which extend knowledge to this industry and make computers so ubiquitous. Following an in-depth evaluation of my intellectual interests, natural talents and potential, I have decided to pursue my graduate studies, in Computer Science. I believe, what makes me suitable for this program other than my high interest and self-motivation in the aforementioned field, is my knowledge and experience acquired over the years. I have been fortunate enough to have undergone various courses during my academic career, which have helped me build a strong foundation in my knowledge of Computer Science. In this transforming world of Computer Technology, where each new day sees a wave of new theories and trends, I want to stay on the fast track. An MS in Computer Science from a university of repute like yours would not only enable me to enhance my knowledge base, but also to venture into the research field, that has always fascinated me. Education has always been a topmost priority in my family. My grandfather was in the Indian Administrative services as a District Collector, both my parents are Allopathic Doctors and my elder brother is an Engine... ... middle of paper ... ...roject at Tadoba Tiger reserve organized by the ‘Kids for Tiger Community’ from Amravati district. I have also done the 240 hrs of community service in the National Service Scheme (NSS) and currently, I am an active member of the Greenpeace India organization. The eminent faculty, excellent research facilities, flexibility in course selection and a multicultural student community have influenced my decision to study at your University. If granted admission at your university, I would perform to the best of my abilities and hope to acquire skills, which will help me attain my goals.
