Who I think is respectful. About the person who i get reminded of when i here “Stand By You”. In this paragraph i’m writing about, “Stand by you” a Rachel Platten song. I’m going to be embracing how the lyrics are respectful. One respectful quote from the song “Stand by you” is “if your wings are broken borrow mine till yours can open too” That quote is respectful because
To really understand someone's point of view, you have to walk in their shoes. People cast blame without knowing the whole truth. Sometimes the truth is that the person blamed is as innocent as a mockingbird. In To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, Atticus Finch is used to teach us good behaviors such as, being a committed and loving father, treating everyone fairly and equally, and standing behind his beliefs.
respect is as much a part of a man as is his own image. This leads to
Respect to me is admiring someone for their abilities, qualities, or achievements. I think respect is always earned an can never be given. As soldiers soldiers we should always respect our peers because they have made the same sacrifice as us. But as soldiers we should have a higher level of respect for our NCOs because they have done their time an have earned it. Being respectful is not hard it is simple, just treat others the way we would like to be treated ourselves.

When I think of what respect means to me, my definition is: listening and being mindful of what someone is saying or doing. The dictionary on Google has respect listed as: “admire (someone or something) deeply, as a result of their abilities, qualities, or achievements” (Google). I have never associated with respect with admiring someone’s abilities, qualities, yet along their achievements. The two different mothers in the stories view respect differently as well.
The history of African American discrimination is a despicable part of the United States’ past. Inequality among Black Americans prompts these individuals to overcome the hardships. This endurance is valued by African Americans and people all around the world. However, the ability to strive and maintain positivity in a difficult or prejudiced situation proves to be tremendously challenging. When people give up in tough times, they deny their opportunity to succeed and grow stronger. This paper examines the techniques that manifest the struggles of racism and the importance of conquering obstacles in the following poems: Dream Deferred, I, Too and Mother to Son.
After analyzing one of Springsteen’s most popular and famous songs, I really learned a lot not only on how to break down a piece to get to know the meaning but also how easily lyrics can be interpreted different than they were written to mean. This song was clearly written to recognize those Vietnam veterans who were not recognized as they should have been after coming home from a hard fought war. But people have taken the lyrics to make the song another patriotic piece about the pride that we have here in America.
As Rameck was in class he noticed that the book that his teacher was teaching from, didn’t cover much African American history. From that moment, he demanded for the school to incorporate African American history in their books, and throughout his journey he almost got expelled. This civil rights song goes well with Rameck’s protest as it clearly reflects what Rameck is trying to say whilst he perseveres: “Ain’t Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me
Throughout my life, I have met countless role models (supervisors, co-workers, teachers, coaches, my parents) who push me harder and harder every single day so that I will succeed beyond belief in the changing world of today. Respect is also holding you up to an expectation that gets tougher and tougher because I am pushing myself harder. I will always have respect for all today, tomorrow, and the future
Honorable, kindhearted, memorable, and powerful all describe the famous king in the book, The Story Of King Arthur, written by Robin Lister. King Arthur is very honorable and kindhearted because people could always count on him to rule safly. Lancelot, a noble knight who loved Guinevere, the queen, sent a message to king Arthur asking him to keep Guinevere safe. Despite what happened between Lancelot and Guinevere, King Arthur decides to leave her out of the battle. Answering Lancelot he said “He would gladly welcome his queen, whom he had forgiven long ago. At the same time he would sadly prepare to fight”(151). He was starting to feel remorse about sending Guinevere to be burned to death.
This song implies that individual’s are violating the norms and values of society. They start the song with a verse that expresses this concern. “What’s wrong with the world, mama/ People livin’ like they ain’t got no mamas…” (lines 1-2). This makes one aware of the disobedience of values that are held in the family. Values are “standard[s] of judgment by which people decide on desirable goals and outcomes.” (Newman, 32) Another verse in this song that illustrates how society is defying norms and values is when they sing: “People killin', people dyin'/ Children hurt and you hear them cryin/ Can you practice what you preach/ And would you turn the other cheek…” (lines 50-53). These lines utter that society has failed to act in a sane and coherent way that society once viewed as correct. The actions affirm that individuals are not living up to society’s norms. Norms are similar to “rules of conduct” and suggest how an individual “should” act. (Newman, 34) In the song they question the acts that would be taken that violate certain norms. Another example of the infringement of society’s norms and values is expressed when the s...
Rough Draft #2 In 1987, Rick Astley released the song “Never Gonna Give You Up,” which became a number one hit all over the world. Almost 20 years later, this song and music video remains well recognized among Internet users due to a meme known as “rickrolling.” A meme can be best described as a popular form of expression in the form of emails, chat messages, and hyperlinks on the internet (Gil). Generally, they’re meant for laughs; however, they can also be used to create controversy, teach a lesson, or create interest in a subject.
When Otis Redding released his song “Respect” in 1965, little did he know the song would be labeled as one of the top five recordings of all time, and he would not be the artist credited for it. Otis Redding’s song called for respect, but in a way that it was an exchange of money from the working man and respect in return from the stay at home mom. A year later Aretha Franklin released a song with the same title, but reversed the message. Aretha’s version of the song demanded absolute respect from the man with nothing in return but the wife’s love. Aretha’s “Respect’” became an absolute hit and anthem in both the feminist and civil rights movements of the time. “Respect” was the much needed anthem for the movements during the late sixties and seventies, calling for respect and equal rights for women, and equality for all.
how honor is seen in everyday life is through a person’s words. A person’s honor is
Respect: without respect you can’t build a relationship. Respect is the foundation on which relationships are built and if there is no respect the relationship will be unstable.
