Undoubtedly, growing up and reaching the adolescent years is one of the most memorable, yet maturing stages in anyone’s life. In the Golden Globe Best Motion Picture awarded film, “Stand by Me” director Rob Reiner and writer Stephen King tell the story of four teenage boys who set out on a life changing adventure to find the answers to a recent town tragedy. The heartfelt acting and overall nostalgia that King and Reiner display in this film is what makes this such a terrific movie, no matter what age you are. The film, “Stand by Me” is about four young teenage boys who are entering their highschool years. It seems that they have been brought up together and are all anxious of the world they are about to face, where they are no longer little kids, and have to start taking the necessary steps into their adulthood. One random day, their friend Vern, tells them about a kid that went missing that he thinks they can find the body, the four friends decide that it would be cool to find the body of the young boy and become local heros. However, they have one issue, the local tough guys around the town want to find the body first, and it turns into a matter of who will reach the body first. The main characters in the film do an amazing job at adding depth and making the movie about more than just four kids going out one weekend to find the body of a boy that got hit by a train. The film does this by dissecting the uncertainties and fears of what it was like to be a twelve year old once more.
