Saint Therese of Lisieux commenced her short life in the year 1873 in France to her religious parents.Therese is a young Saint,admired as the “Little Flower” and sparked inspiration to the lives of many Catholics. She suffered significantly beginning at the age of four when her mother passed away due to breast cancer followed by her sister Pauline entering the Carmelite convent, which was considered a tragedy to Therese.Soon after, she became extremely ill that many believed that she was dying, she described the people and their staring as “a string of onions” when she came to the realization that her sisters were praying to Mary for her healing. Therese believes that the Christmas of 1886 was her “conversion” , she wished to join the convent, but was rejected because of her young age and insisted on continuous attempts. Therese asked the Bishop and made in effort into entering a convent but she was carried out by guards. The Vicar General saw the anticipation within her and allowed her to join the convent.In addition, her suffering had increased when her father endured multiple strokes. Therese felt her prayers were dry, but she did not lose faith and continued to attempt a prosperous life. Not far down the road ,she died of tuberculosis on September 30th at the age of 24. Frances Cabrini was born in July 15, 1850 to Agostino Cabrini and Stella Oldini in Sant’Angelo Lodigiano, Lombardi, Italy. She was one of eleven children born to the Cabrini family and one of the only four children that survived past adolescence. She was born two months premature and was small and weak as a child. These factors, as well as the strong faith of her parents, would have an impact on the rest of her life, mission, and works. Agostino Cabrini, her father, often read Propagation of the Faith to her and the rest of the family. The stories were all about the missions in China and from a young age, Frances desired to become a missionary. By the age of eighteen, Frances knew that she wanted to be a nun, however; her weak health stood in the way. She could not join the Sacred Heart of Jesus. So instead, in 1863, Frances enrolled as a boarding student at the Normal School in Arluno with the intentions of becoming a schoolteacher. The school was directed by the Daughters of the Sacred Heart. Frances lived at the school for five years, residing in the convent with the nuns. Frances was elated to live with the nuns and to share a faith-centered life with them. She graduated from the Normal School in 1868 with a degree in teaching.
She was to die twenty–one years later in 1879 after a prolonged and painful illness. She remained hidden in a convent about 300 miles from home, a refuge from the interrogations and the pilgrims that never ceased seeking her. Teresa Sánchez Cepeda Davila y Ahumada lived in Avila, Spain where she was born in 1515 and lived during the Reformation until her death at age 67. She was canonized in 1622, forty years after her death. St. Teresa's grandmother was forced to be converted from a Jew into a Christian during the Inquisition. Without her grandmother’s conversion St. Teresa would never have become a Christian saint. Her parents were Godly people and showed tremendous integrity. They always said their prayers and made sure their twelve children did also. Sadly, at the age of twelve, St. Teresa's mother died giving birth which created a fear in St. Teresa of getting married. Joan of Arc originated from Domrémy-la-Pucelle, France in 1412. Her parents were Isabelle Romée and Jacques d'Arc. She also had three brothers along with a sister. Her pious mother nurtured Joan’s deep love for the Catholic Church at an early age. The voices first originated from her father’s garden; the voices she heard were said to be Saint Michael, Catherine, and Margaret (French saints). The voices told her that she must help the Dauphin by going to Orleans and breaking England’s siege over the city, this made her believe that she was chosen by God to make France the victor of the long lasting war with England. The voices helped determine her mission, which was to save France by defeating the enemies, along with making Charles the rightful king.

Like many girls her age she was taught like many other young girls her age not how to read or write but to sew and spin. but unlike some girls her father was a peasant farmer. At a inferior age of thirteen she had experienced a vision known as a flash of light while hearing an unearthly voice that had enjoined her to be diligent in her religious duties and be modest. soon after at the age fifteen she imagined yet another unearthly voice that told her to go and fight for the Dauphin. She believed the voices she heard were the voices of St. Catherine and St. Margaret and many other people another being St. Michael. She believed they also told her to wear mens attire, cut her hair and pick up her arms. When she first told her confessor she did not believe her. When she tried telling the judges she explained to them how the voices told her it was her divine mission help the dauphin and rescue her country from the English from the darkest periods during the Hundred Years’ War and gain the French Throne. She is till this day one of the most heroic legends in womens history.
Teresa the Avila is the last of the most accomplished women of the Middle Age. She was a Spanish nun, like Hildegard, who had mystic visions. She viewed Jesus as a spouse. After a while in her convent she decided to go all through Spain sharing her religious faith. On this quest she was able to create 25 more monasteries throughout Spain. She suffered considerably because of her visions because her confessor told her to ignore them since they came from the devil. She did not challenge this in a direct confrontation, but instead decided to choose a different priest to be her confessor. Her vision, were finally given authority by the church when she got help from Peter de Alcantara.
People are called in this life to become saints; a saint is a friend of God. Most people think the saintly people as being gifted with some supernature powers that made them intimate friends of God. St. Cecilia was believed to be born in 2nd century Rome. She was an only child in a wealthy Roman family, was well-educated, and had been a devout Christian from early in her childhood. Cecilia had vowed her virginity to God, but she was promised in marriage to a pagan man named Valerian. She wore sackcloth, fasted, and prayed to the saints and angels hoping to keep her promise to God. On their wedding night, Cecilia informed Valerian that an angel guarded her body and that Valerian must not disrespect her vow of virginity. Her prayers were answered, and Valerian was willing to take her as his wife without forcing her to break her vow. Her husband wanted to see the angel that guarded her, but Cecilia told him that he would need to be baptized in order to do so. Valerian went to be baptized by Pope Urban, and returned to Cecilia as a Christian. When he returned, he saw Cecilia praying in her bedroom. Next to her was an angel with flaming wings, and he was holding two crowns of rose and lilies. He crowned both and them, and then vanished.
