Spiritual Director
Spiritual Direction is art of contemplative listening, which is listening with the whole of one’s being, to another. Spiritual Directors meet one on one or in a group with a client that would like help seeing God at work in their lives.
Spiritual Direction is a natural leadership that can grow into a business that I have already begun, however I am in training at the Dominican Center at Maywood and am not yet receiving pay and have two clients that I see on a weekly basis. My training will be complete in a year and a half, where I plan on working this on the side and possibly full time in the next 6 years. Some have incorporated Spiritual Direction into their psychology practices. I am in the process of working a strategic position that will give me a distinct identity and help me to focus on who I am as a Spiritual Director. Spiritual Direction is the beginning of a major trend, and I believe will move into a vital source for many who are in ministry and desire God’s leading in their lives.
Spiritual Directors International is a great source for ethical conduct and support. In addition I am meeting with a mentor who as a Spiritual Director and will help answer the aspects of the business. Spiritual Direction is today for me a hobby, a passion in which I am personal interested in because it changed my life.
The question whether or not I will make money, and this is the area where taking a risk is greater for me. Although the overhead can be small, whereas I could meet in a church building and later move to an office if my earnings permit this change. I believe that I have a strong gift in Spiritual Direction and that money will work itself out. I do need to have a plan and am excited to move toward creating a well thought out arrangement that help move toward this
