Anglers use two main reels; Spinning Reels and Baitcast Reels. These reels can be used for all different types of fishing. Both types of reels have their benefits and downfalls. Each reel has a different setup to function properly. Both reels are used by bass anglers. Either type of reel is bait specific to an extent. Every angler has to have both of these reels to fish effectively. A Spinning Reel is one of the more common types of fishing reels that anglers use, especially for people who are after small to medium-sized fish like Bass, Trout, and White Perch. Spinning Reels have a fixed spool underneath the rod, and line is spooled of by the weight of the lure. The biggest reason people buy Spinning Reels, is for their versatility. Spinning reels are used to cast many different kinds of baits, this includes plastic lures and live bait. Spinning Reels are really good at casting light line and baits. More knots come from line that has a lot of memory. When the cast is made, the line spins together in the air, and forms a knot. Spinning Reels are ideal for casting almost anything in the tackle box, but they are not the most effective for throwing heavy lures. These reels are also not as accurate as the Baitcaster Reel.
