Chakraborty who also named Mohta’s NGO, ‘Silent Crusade’ said, "Honking in street is one of the menaces that need to be addressed. Mohta's mission against honking is slowly accepted in society and kolkata police is glad in helping him in his mission." "Kolkata Police used Mohta's words in forms of banner in many busy streets of kolkata. What had moved you to start a mission against honking? When I moved back to India from United States around 28 years back in 1989, I saw a contrasting difference between the traffic manners in these two countries, especially honking etiquette. This made me wondered that if we, the citizens of India could avoid this habit of unnecessary honking and ultimately contribute towards limiting sound pollution, India would be a much better place to live. Many people approached me and offered to help spread the message. I have also received many calls from people in Delhi stating that they have stopped unwarranted honking and will even continue to do so. 7. Do you have anything in mind to start a nationwide campaign against honking? Yes, I do aim to expand my NGO,‘Silent Crusade’s’ reach to the entire nation. Currently, due to limited resources I have not been able to achieve that milestone, but with the help of esteemed newspaper or media partners such as yours, I hope to receive some support from government agencies and traffic police departments who can help me spread the message of reducing Sound Pollution in the country. I would definitely love to see an India which is free of Noise Pollution and would give my 100 percent in reaching that state. 8. Have you ever approached State Government and other agencies? I did try to reach out to some government agencies via social media and mails but unfortunately have not received any positive responses yet. Spreading this message to a country with over 1.3 billion people and reaching a state of a ‘Honk Free Country’ is definitely not possible without the support of government. I would continue trying at my end to reach out to as many agencies as possible but would love your help and support as well in doing
