In the film The Dark Knight there is a similar organization in the sound. In this soundtrack there is a use of electronic and instrumental sounds that create complex layers throughout the song. The music in some of these piece were all played in the same tone, but because of the different rhythms and motives it gave the music a fuller more complex feeling. There were different sections that overlapped at the same time. When this happened it gave the sound a more tonal feel. This really connected to the film because it was an action drama that had many moments of chaos or action scenes. These types of scenes require sound that is driving and multi layered. This helps the audience connect the different events in the film to the different layers in the music.

During this time the music had a doo-wop feel and included folksingers. There was also an inspiration from the Motown sound and rock. These types of music was catered to the hippie culture, which is a large aspect to the plot of this film. The main instruments that were used in this soundtrack are the drum set, vocals, saxophone, and electric guitar. These are all very important parts in creating the setting and time period for the movie. There are strong melodies that allow for harmonic phrasing between the vocals and instrumental parts of the music. Throughout this soundtrack there are repeated rhythms that allow the audience to understand the format of the music. A scene where this occurs strongly is when the song “With a little help from my friends” is sung. When this is happening two characters are partying all night in the streets of NY.
