THE SOCIOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVE: To study the human society is called sociology. The special point of view at the heart of sociology is called the sociological perspective. VIEWING THE BROAD-SPECTRUM IN THE PARTICULAR: Berger in 1963 defined sociological perspective as “to see the general in particular”. This definition explains that when sociologists study the behavior of particular people, they look for general patterns. Even though every human being is distinctive, the lives of individuals are shaped by the society in patterned ways which is obvious as determined previously that different categories (i.e. men and woman, children and adults, rich and poor) live their lives different from each other .We start to observe the globe sociologically …show more content…

Lillian Rubin conducted a study in 1976on hopes of women’s regarding their marriages. In this study it was found that the women’s with higher income expects the person to whom they get married to should be responsive to others, to talk with pleasure and share their thoughts and experiences. Whereas her study shows that women’s with low income have totally different expectations. They expected the man they get married to should not drink much , should not be violent and have stable jobs. This explains clearly that women’s expectations from her life partner depend on social class position. This content will help us to investigate that our actions, thoughts and feelings are directed by the influence of society. We might consider that personal feelings of love help us to enter into a relation of marriage. One of the sociologist named C.Wright Mills in 1959 demonstrate this idea by using the1930’s Great Depression. Since the rate of unemployment raise to 25 percent, people who were unemployed could not help but see the universal social forces at work in their particular lives. Instead of saying that “I can’t find a job because something must be wrong with me ”, sociological approach was taken by them and they recognize that “there are no jobs because the economy has collapsed”. According to Mills by the use of “sociological imagination” people could be aware of not just about their society but their own lives as well for the reason that both of them are very much connected.
