A social script is a sequence of actions expected of an individual in certain situations that varies across times and cultures. Throughout life, people use observational learning in their daily activities to build societal schemas for their behaviors. Ranging from mourning practices to grocery store etiquette, there are social scripts encoded into virtually every transaction we make, whether we are aware of them or not. I recently began taking classes at a traditional yoga studio in Bellingham. The studio is a walk-up with vaulted ceilings and one large intimidatingly beautiful. The first time I attended a session at there, I did not have a social script for attending a yoga class in this city, with this teacher, or even with the yoga style
