The movie “Crash” touches on many social issues in America. Epically, in Los Angeles. Crash discusses the social and psychological issues each character faces every day in their lives. This film is an emotionally engaging look at prejudice which the film finds in all people, regardless of the ethnic group, background or their social status. Timeline of the movie is very accurate to real event that was happening in Los Angeles. This movie takes place few years after the 9/11. According to New York Times people in color were the most common victim of racial profiling (Elliot). Crash really shows how 9/11 effected the colored people living in Los Angeles. In the entire movie Cameron goes through multiple of racial discrimination. In one scene Cameron gets carjacked by Anthony and his friend. Cameron gets really angry, instead of being afraid, he just starts beating them up. He pours out all his angers on them. That one scene acted like a domino-effect for Cameron. This anger was a reaction to previous night’s event. It was a reaction to every road block he faced. He was taking out all his frustration on them. The way Terrence Howard acted this scene was very surreal. It almost felt real. After that they both get chased by many cops. When he Finally gets cornered, the police start to point their gun at them. They were ready shoot. They were just waiting for Cameron to make one bad move. He would have been killed if the other cop hadn’t saved him. According to Cornell University, Police brutality skyrocketed during the early 2000s. African American Death rate doubled since then. Almost at the end of this scene, the rookie cop risks his life to save Cameron form other cops. The rookie cop was doing this to redeem himself because he did not take action against the Paul Ryan before. This selflessness and act of heroism somewhat give hope to Cameron as he drives away smilingly at the end. This scene was really trying to send a message. It showed how it feels like to live in America as a black person
