When you run a business you have to make sure the business is running correctly but most importantly you have to make sure that your employees are motivated and do the job that they are required to do. The best way to make an employee motivated is to meet their needs and each generation has their own needs. The Greatest Generation was during 1910 through 1925. This generation has been through the great depression and some of them had even fought in the Second World War. They are called the greatest generation because of all the sacrifices they had to go through. When they were growing up the national debt dropped from twenty-four billion dollars to sixteen billion dollars. The main focus for these children were education, they always wanted something better. This generation was both physically fit and wealthy. They changed their traditional values but they were scared of rejection. This generation grew up fast wondering what the future would hold. They spent less time with their parents and took care of themselves and their siblings. This generation grew up with the emerging technology. Some people in this generation had a “whatever” attitude about everything. (Generation X, 2014) Some ways to get generation x motivated is to give them rewards. Some ways to make them happy at work is have some fun at work, work does not have to be serious all the time. Generation Y is the children of the baby boomers. This generation always had constant access to technology. Generation Y is one of the most parental generations so far. People in this generation loves to supports good causes.
