To begin with, everything has some history, even the things people might think are unimportant or not as popular. Soccer, also known as international football, is one of those “things” referred to as unimportant or unpopular to most people. As it may not seem like it, but it turns out Soccer is the most popular sport worldwide and the most watched.

The basics of the sport and how to play it is basically an outdoor ball game with eleven players on the field for each team, considering that two different teams get to play against each other. The object is to move the ball through the gate box, or known as the goal, one placed on each end of the field for each team. The team with the most points at the end of the game is the winning team for the match. Each goal counts for one point.

In an international tournament, known as the World Cup, is a tournament where professional soccer players play teams in other countries as well as our country. It is played by thirty-two teams in many countries and it is the most watched sporting event.

The history of the game and its early form of it was back in the third century. There were different forms of the game and some were emerged from the Greeks and Romans, and also by Europeans. In the third century it was traced in China, and later was traced in Japan. The early forms of the game were not well organized and the game included things that would be counted as a ‘red card’ or ‘yellow card’ today, such as kicking, tripping, and throwing any of the opponents down. In the nineteenth century the game started getting popular in England, especially with students in school. It sooner became part of their curriculum.

The Super Bowl teams are just teams put together, nothing to do with ethnicity or race, it’s just a team. Team names include, Packers, Bears, Steelers, Patriots, etc. Less people would tune in to watch the super bowl or football itself for the exact same reason that it’s just a team put together, as well as soccer teams, but the soccer teams name include, Brazil, Mexico, Spain, etc. The teams most likely have people that are from the name of their team, and people who watch the world cup watch it to see their group play. Let’s say Mexico is going to play. Hispanics from Mexico or people with Mexican roots will want to watch their team play. So, this is why Soccer is the most popular sport worldwide.
