Cancer is a poisonous disease. In lament terms it is an uncontrolled division of abnormal cells in parts of the body. A malignant growth. To people who fall victim to this disease and their loved ones it is a death sentence. Thankfully scientific research is so advanced that we know multiple causes of cancer and how we can live a healthier lifestyle to prevent cancer.

Our skin is the largest organ of our bodies. It serves a variety of functions such as it aids in the control of our body temperature, it helps to produce Vitamin D, it serves as a barrier against germs, etc. Sadly, exposure to too much sunlight and exposure to certain chemicals (coal tar, paraffin.), can damage our skin and result in skin cancer- a very common cancer. There are a variety of skin cancers. The two most common are Basal and Squamous and Melanomas. Basal & Squamous cancers occur in the cells in the outer layer of the skin while Melanomas occur in melanocytes- cells responsible for the production of melanin. Both are curable if found in its early stages. Sadly, melanoma causes most skin cancer deaths because of how easy it spreads. …show more content…
