In ‘The Great Gatsby’, F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote, “They were careless people, Tom and Daisy- they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made.” (Fitzgerald 178). According to him, people in America are very wealthy, and there was a huge economic boom during that period. Conversely, in South Korea, a gap between the rich and the poor keeps growing. Between 1880 and 1920, about 25 million immigrants settled in to live in America. The foreigners, who came to America, were looking forward to earning a great amount of money, but what they got is discrimination. Also, a group, KKK, was made to differentiate white people to other races. The same situation is also happening in Korea. According to Korean Ministry of Security and Public Administration in 2013, the immigrants in Korea have increased exponentially for 9 years.
