It is 2020. Two men stand in an empty street in Alabama. There are few houses on the long street. It is dark and late at night. A young major general named Iago argues with a man in his thirties named Roderigo. Iago is muscular and built well with short blonde hair. Roderigo is skinny wearing ripped jeans and a gray sweatshirt. His long, wavy brown hair covers his forehead and flows down his neck. His bushy beard covers his face. Roderigo has learned the General of the Army, a black man from Massachusetts named Othello has married the young woman he planned to marry, Desdemona. Roderigo is enraged because he believes Iago knew Othello and Desdemona were getting married. Iago insists he hates Othello because Cassio, a young man from Florida, was promoted to Lieutenant General instead of him. Iago and Roderigo talking is a heated exchange with yelling between the two.

Othello and Iago are diverse in their characters and in their colors. It could be said additionally, notwithstanding, that they are comparative because of their untrustworthiness. Iago uses them as an addition to his plans, which he manages so they will work in his favor in the end, or so he believes they will.
A Shakespearean play always includes a typical villain character. He is boisterous, egotistical, sometimes witty, and all too eager to seek revenge. In William Shakespeare Othello, Iago is the well-liked, trusted, and brave ensign of the great Venetian general Othello, or so it appears. Iago actually possesses all of the typical villainous qualities, however Iago conducts himself with great composure, and by manipulating his counterparts, he makes people believe he is on their side. I find this characteristic to be a very intriguing one that is not easy to perform. It is perhaps Iago's villainous actions throughout this play that lead me to believe that he is the hero rather than the typical villain.
Within Shakespeare’s Othello, it conveys moral and subsequent reflection of events in its current society. In Act 4, Scene 2 (Part 1) demonstrates the road to Othello’s downfall and the success of Iago’s revenge. Within this scene, Othello interrogates Emilia for suspicion of Desdemona and Cassio’s affair, in which they have none, and with Othello's confrontation, he questions and insults her of her unfaithfulness and infidelity leaving Desdemona confused about what happened to Othello. Iago, called by Emilia, pretends to offer Desdemona comfort and Emilia raises notions of the possibilities and hypothesising that someone is 'feeding' Othello lies. Iago hastily covers these ideas to avoid exposure of the truth. This strong and indecisive scene twists the ideas of human nature within Othello’s mind and convinced perceptions of Desdemona, fulfilling Iago’s Revenge.
The Relationship Between Othello and Iago In this scene Iago persuades Cassio, who is on watch, to drink, knowing that he is not a drinker and that he will be easy to antagonise. Roderigo provokes Cassio into a fight and Othello, hearing the disturbance, arrives to find the nobleman Montano seriously injured. Cassio gives no explanation, Montano pleads self-defence, and say that Iago knows best, so Iago is ordered to speak, ' Iago, who began't? " This passage starts with Othello, who appears to have interrupted someone, as there is a line break.
William Shakespeare’s Othello is a tragedy about revenge through jealousy and deception. Throughout the play, Iago is constantly pitting characters against each other in order to satiate his anger from being denied the promotion to lieutenant that Cassio was granted. As a catalyst for all the conflicts that arise during the play, Iago merely uncovers the underlying insecurities characters such as Othello, a notable war general in Venice, are struggling with. Animal imagery as well as the use of light and dark to differentiate between race is very prominent and is used to drive a wedge between the newlyweds, Othello and Desdemona. Although Othello is a highly accomplished and well respected war hero, the notion that Venetians, including Desdemona, are a superior race, prevents him from ever feeling truly secure in his marriage, ultimately leading to the demise of several people close to him, and finally himself.
The beginning of the play starts when Iago and Roderigo were discussing about their plan of Iago wants to be second-in-command and Roderigo wants to make love with Desdemona. Next, they went into a dispute with Desdemona’s father about Othello marrying Desdemona. When, Othello marry Desdemona, Iago first plan was to get Cassio lose his job by getting drunk and into a fight. Afterwards, Desdemona tries to convince to Othello about giving Cassio’s job back. Then, Iago gets Desdemona, Othello, Cassio, and Bianca stuck in a situation about who are cheating on what, the handkerchief and Cassio’s job. Later on, Iago got in trouble of the evidence that reveal everything that actually happen in the play. Lastly, Othello killed himself, Iago receives imprisonment with torture, Emilia dies later and Cassio became the governor of Cyprus.
Iago takes on many different persona’s to enact his plan of revenge upon Othello. He plays the friend, a trustworthy and credible source of information for Othello in his feat of drama with his innocent wife, Desdemona. He also plays the wingman for Roderigo who is madly in love with Desdemona, encouraging him to make advances towards her to woo Desdemona away from Othello. Iago even persuades Roderigo to kill Cassio with his lies about Cassio and Desdemona’s affair. “...you may take him at your pleasure: I will be near to second your attempt, and he shall fall between us.” Iago promises to assist Roderigo in the murder of Cassio and he will be rewarded with Desdemona’s love (Navigators.) Iago’s true persona, though, is a heartless, woman-hating villain who would go to great lengths to get revenge against Othello for preferring Cassio over him for the military promotion.
While reading the play “The Tragedy Of Othello” by Shakespeare I realized that it was almost like reading one big poem. Many of Shakespeare’s plays have a rhyme scheme this is called blank verse, “written prodomintaly in blank verse, Othello also includes prose passages (many spoken by Iago) and rhymed couplets (which punctuate the ends of some scenes)” (DiYanni 1011). Iago is a very cunning and mischievous person and his words reflect his character. This speech is when Iago begins to speak about his devious plot. Iago very bluntly says, “I follow him to serve my turn upon him”(Shakespeare), and this quote perfectly sums up Iago’s tone. He is very proud of his nature and had no problem with detailing his plot to others. This shows just how confident Iago is in his actions. He feels like he can boast about his plot before he knows how the situation will end. Iago is also very proud of his unfaithfulness when he says, “In following him, I follow but myself”(Shakespeare). Iago thinks his two timing qualities are something to be proud of. What Iago takes pride in shows just how flawed he is as a human being.
When looking at Iago his actions are very similar to those of Richard the third the reaction of the people around him is very much different as is the reaction by the audience reading this play. Where in the text we see the characters hate Richard in Othello we see Iago being constantly called ‘ the good and honest Iago’. Looking through text he is called good Iago four times and honest Iago five times, which when asking audiences is nine times to many.
