The modern slave system and the slave system of Frederick Douglas day both treat slaves as non humans and destroy the lives of each and every slave. What is slavery? Slavery is a state of subjugation or captivity often involving burdensome and degrading labor. What do you think of; when you hear the word slave? a slave is someone who “is completely subservient to a dominating influence”. Two of the most known African Americans, who were born slaves and helped others of their race become free, were Frederick Douglass and Harriet Tubman. Using different tactics they helped many people become free from slavery. Slavery is a terrible thing that was brought up by men and still happening today in our world. Even though we might not see it happening it still happens all over. As a society we need to try to stop slavery by any way we can, even if it means to be more awhere.
We know that slavery not only exists throughout the world today but flourishes. With approximately twenty-seven million people in bondage, it is thought to be the third most profitable criminal enterprise of our time, following only drugs and guns. In …show more content…

What is today’s modern day slavery? There are several things that can be put into today’s slavery. This is one problem that is often overlooked in today’s society. It may not have as much impact as it did years ago, but if we stop and think about it, this problem is still as harsh and crude as it was years ago. In Brazil, poverty-stricken young men are promised good work by harvesting crops. Impressed by the opportunity to better their lives they agree to for the work. Instead of going to work they are trucked hundreds of miles to isolated jungles and forced at gunpoint to clear rainforest.
