I think that if the students have to wear a dress code in school then the staff should as well. It’s not fair to the student’s that the teachers can wear whatever they want to wear but we can’t. Dress code is not going to stop the bullying from happening. No matter what you wear there is still going to be someone out there that is going to talk about you and bully you! Teachers should not have the right to walk around in the school wearing whatever they want as us students have to walk around in a uniform. The only thing that it does is stop people from saying your clothes are ugly because now you all have to wear the same kind of clothing. We should not have to pay to wear our jeans on “Jean Day.” That is our personal wardrobe and we should have every right to wear it because we didn’t just go out and buy these clothes for them to not get worn all the time. That’s not how our schools should be. As long as you come to school and do what you’re supposed to, then there shouldn’t be a big ordeal about anything. School uniforms are traditionally favored by private schools and religious institutions, but are now being more commonly implanted into public school systems. Why should school uniforms be reevaluated? First, school uniforms lack the ability for children to express themselves. Second, families with less money are at a disadvantage. Third, uniforms cause uncomfortability that leads to distraction. The concept of school uniforms is good, but until later alteration, they should not be put in place.

School uniforms are a boiling conversation point these days. There are so many well-built points of view about what route parents, students, and superintendents wish to go in. It has been disputed that school uniforms have the potential to make a school safer, that uniforms reduce harassment or self-esteem issues, and that uniforms return the focus to the students' learning. I disagree. I, in fact think that school uniforms do not help make our schools a more secure place, I think that they do not revisit the center of attention to student's education - they just shifted where the attention was previous, and that they won’t help cut down on harassment or self- esteem issues in school.
I don’t think children or teens should have to wear school uniforms. It deprives them of their freedom of speech. They should have the right to wear what they want when they want. Having a mandated uniform policy in place assists in easing the burden of school clothing costs by allowing parents to shop for more reasonable prices, because the clothes will look the same regardless of the brand. School bullying can be reduced by not easily being able to determine the more expensive garments versus the less expensive, eliminating the ease with which individuals profile based on income status. Bullies frequently choose to pick on an individual based on what they wear, and as many students already have a tough time at school, they don’t need bullies to make it even worse.
