Steroids Steroids, should they be allowed in sports? They should not be allowed in sports because research shows that steroids are bad for health. An example of why they’re bad is Tommy Simpson died from excessive amphetamines when taking them during the 13th stage of the Tour De France (Abuse). The cyclist, whose motto was allegedly "If it takes ten to kill you, take nine and win," took Steroids and worked hard until his body shut down (historical). Another example of why they are dangerous is Ken Caminiti told Sports Illustrated that “On May 28, 2002, article titled Caminiti Comes Clean that he used steroids during his 1996 National League MVP season(Santa Clara)”. He estimates that half the players in the MLB were also using steroids. Caminiti later died of a heart attack at age 41 on Oct. 10, 2004(Santa).The reason he died is because that he doped to much and doping causes all kinds of bad substances to be put into his body. The answer to that question is also straightforward. They make you bigger, faster, and stronger And they work perfectly well in anybody who's training heavily. Should athletes be allowed to make this claim? Many say, "It hurts only me, so why would society care? society cares because steroid use is a form of cheating(Historical). Since steroids work so well,they create an unfair advantage because they put stuff into the user’s body giving them an advantage over the other opponents Even if there were no harmful steroids it would still not be allowed because not everyone can get ahold of them. People need to have a fair advantage when playing sports and other events and these type of things are a competition and if one person uses steroids than everyone else would have to use them to make it
