I would like to propose a new idea for WOLCS. I think it would be a great idea to start school later in the morning on Fridays. Students do need lots of sleep after all. I hope you will take this plan into consideration so us kids can catch up on our sleeping. I would like to start school somewhere around 9-10 a.m. on Fridays. School time affects kids and teachers. Sometimes teachers can’t make it in time and the same thing happens to kids like us, too. The huge debate around the world is “What time should school start?”. I have different ideas of what time school should start. I think school should start any later than 8:30 a.m. and the experts do, too. Many news articles have said that before 8:30 a.m., is too early. In my opinion, school should start at 9 a.m. because kids will have more time to sleep and get ready Our school starts at 8 a.m. There are different pros and cons to starting at 8 a.m. The pros are that we can end school at an earlier time and that we can still get enough time to do homework. The cons are that we don’t get enough sleep and not enough sleep can lead to unhealthy side effects. I asked two teachers about what they think. Mrs. Semanovich said she thought it was a decent idea but she wants school to start at 7 a.m. and end at 1 p.m. I asked Mrs. Moore, too. …show more content…
Kids aren’t superheroes and everyone knows it because we have all been kids once. Most of us aren’t morning people so they know what it feels like to wake up for school and want to go back to sleep. We can fix this problem so kids can be healthy and alert at school. If we fix this problem, kids can learn more and remember what they learned because they won’t be sleepy or daydreaming in class. I hope you can agree with most of this writing piece and that you won’t have any disagreement with my opinion. I think school should start later. How about
Despite popular opinion, to be beneficial, schools should continue on their current schedules, and not start later. Starting schools later can have a variety of positive and negative consequences on students. Schools currently are at a time that gives students enough lesson time to learn subjects, but still have time to relax and take part in other activities after school. Also many families depend on the time school starts to have easy transportation to school and work. Starting schools later will take away students time to do activities of their choice such as spend time with their families, socialize with others, and participate in extracurricular activities.
Some people may believe that starting school later wouldn't help kids and would waste money, by really they are wrong because it can give students much needed sleep. When the pros and cons are weighed, It's obvious that schools start time should be later because teens need sleep and it improves grades and test scores. So get out there and let kids sleep
Researchers have proven that teenager’s brains don’t start working until ten in the morning, also that an average teenager is supposed to get eight to nine hours of sleep each night. These are a few reasons that school starting times are negatively affecting students learning abilities at school. I believe that schools should have later starting times. An average teenager is supposed to get eight to nine hours of sleep each night, however in reality most teens only get about seven hours. A lack of sleep is causing students to do worse on homework and tests. Our school starts at seven twenty-five, if it started two hours later, then students would be getting the exact amount of sleep that they need each night. A study shows that the brain doesn’t
Ring! Ring! Goes my alarm clock I wake up at 5:00 in the morning for the first day of school. And I think about how school should start much later so teens can get more sleep. In the article should school start later by Lisa M. Harrington and the video "Should Students Start School Later in the Morning? as well as a info graphic by Sarah McKinney titled wake up call all support that schools should let their students get more sleep. Schools should let their students get more sleep so They will be ready to learn and enjoy their breakfast so they can have energy to learn when they enter their school and not be waking up at 5:00 in the morning and start being relaxed and waking up at 7:00 So they can get more time to relax and do what
The schools that start classes before 8:00AM, the students are not getting enough sleep at night. In the passage Up For Debate: Should School Start Later It states “Many adolescents suffer from chronic sleep deprivation.” We need the schools to fix this by allowing students to get more sleep by changing the time school starts, to a more reasonable time. Therefore letting the students get the sleep they need to work exceptionally at school. Starting the school day later will also help with the amount of money the school pays for. Starting later would be most beneficial for schools around the world.
Schools should not start later because that would cause a lot of problems. Schools should stay how they are because it will make kids stop being on there phones at night so much, it won’t make school end later (and make kids walk home in the dark), and it interfere with sports or jobs.
Were you aware that teens tend to have irregular sleeping patterns that can harm their body and the way it functions? When it comes to sleep, teens are inclined to stay up very late during the week and wake up very early in the morning. On the weekends, they seem to gravitate more towards waking up very late to catch up on the sleep that they missed earlier in the week. Now that you know what the causes of having irregular sleeping patterns can do to a teenager’s body, you will be able to see the positive and negative effects of what not having enough sleep can do to one’s self. These facts will be explored through the articles “Should Schools Start Later” by Justin O’Neill and “Why Schools Should Start Later in the Morning” by Emily Richmond.
Are you tired of waking up so early in the morning? Daryn doesn't get tired until 11:00. He then has basketball practice at 6:15. That means he only gets about 6 hours of sleep because he has to wake up at 5:30. After basketball he's tired, then he has to go to school and most likely falls asleep in school because he's so weary from such a busy, miniscule morning. Schools should start later in the morning because it gives the child more sleep so they won't be tired, gives them a more productive morning and benefits their education.

We’ve all woken up tired not wanting to go to school, because we didn’t get enough sleep. Don't you hate waking up early for school in the morning? Most high school students wake up before the sun rises just to become ready for school. Teenage brains do not begin to function that early considering many are tired from staying up late the previous night. The National Sleep Foundation reported that most teens do not retain enough shuteye, one study found that only 15% reported sleeping eight 1/2 hours on school nights. That fact was extremely true for me when I attended high school. I barely was able to wake up, get dressed, and be in school on time since I was so tired. In my opinion school days should start later, precisely in between 9- 10 o'clock. If the school day started later attendance would improve, students will be more prepared, and student's attitudes and grades may improve.
