Just imagine if you got pulled over for a broken tail light and knowing that you wouldn’t be able to be with your family again. Its not a joyful thought, huh? Well, this is what happens to illegal immigrants that drive without a driver’s license. If an illegal immigrant is pulled over and doesn’t have a driver’s license, they could get deported. If they are not deported then they will end up paying an outrageous fine and another amount of money to get their car from the car pound. All illegal immigrants should be able to obtain a driver’s license, they fear every day of getting pulled over, deportation is expensive, and when immigrants are deported they are separated from their family.
First off, there are about 11.7 million immigrants are living in the United States illegally, most of them don’t drive but some do (“Preston”). The New York Times has reported that 4.5 million illegal immigrants are driving without a driver’s license (“Driving”). They take the risk of driving every day to support their family. Even if they drive somewhere that’s close to them, they still fear of getting pulled over. They might as well be able to obtain a driver’s license to be …show more content…

As of 2013, 438 million unauthorized immigrants have been deported; over fifty-five percent of them are non-criminals (“U.S.”). A majority of those non-criminal immigrants were deported because of driving without a driver's license. A lot of money is spent on deportation; to be precise, the cost just to deport a single individual is $12,500 (“ICE”). Just think about how much money the government is spending per day on deportation; the Immigration and Customs Enforcement, also known as ICE, spends $5.5 million per day on deportation (“Fiscally”).
