In the fall of 2011, there were more than 6.7 million students, or about a third of college students enrolled in at least one online course. Online programs are booming! Online classes are the largest and fastest-growing segment of online and blended learning according to the International Association for K-12 Online Learning. Century High School should offer Online classes because, Students have more free time for jobs or extra curricular activities, online classes offer more flexibility, online classes can be used when snow days are in place, and online courses teach you to be self disciplined.

Karl Lembke, who is on the Bismarck School Board said, ”It gave me more time to be flexible with my schedule”. I personally know many people that have taken online classes. They all say the same thing. It gave them more flexibility with their school schedule and other activities. Can you imagine being able to take a class whenever you want and, wherever you want? Whether you are outside in the library or in the comfort of your own home you would be able to take a class online. Frank Mulgrew, president of the Online Education Institute at Post University says, “With the demands of work, family, and personal life, the traditional classroom is impractical--online learning allows for anytime anywhere learning that is readily available and flexible,”. Michael A. Mullin, who is in his sixth year as President of Cathedral school says, “The virtual program is working for kids at Cathedral, which teaches students in grades seven through 12.” Mullin also said, “It’s one of those ideas that I think was simply inevitable, our students are used to conducting many of their learning experiences on their laptop machines, whether school happens to be in session or not.” Cathedral school My next reason Century should have online classes offered is because they teach you self discipline. Sometimes when a teacher asks you a question you look to your friend for the answer. When you are taking an online class there is no one to rely on for the answer. It forces you to listen in class and then answer the question by yourself. I also know that in some of my classes my teacher says,“remember this will be on the test” and you are messing around with your friends. If this becomes a problem, online classes would be great because you would be by yourself and remember almost everything the teacher
